Norm, only the left ("hazard")is a pushswitch - right - seat belt is only warning ligth when not strapped. Mine is simular but reads "gurt anlegen" = strap seatbelt. I think that's a newer warning ligth from later . - Had 3, all said "gurt....". BTW, wife allways thought it ment " have a ...good ...trip"
gurt anlegen = Kurt A something or other, German guy who has his name in many early cars for some reason. That text makes me always happy when I see it on relatives '78. Sounds much better than Fasten your Seatbelts.
Hmm, my 79 has a "warning" light there, anything bad goes wrong it lights up. At the moment though it is actng wierd. A while back I changed the front callipers and disks for larger ones, now the "brake pad" warning light comes on on the dash sometimes, but if I turn the headlight onthe BIG red warning light in the console comes on, but ONLY if the "brake pad" light is on in the dash. If the "brake pad" warning light isn't on in the dash and I turn the headlight on the BIG red warning light stays off.
Yes - very good condition for an early car, Hazard and General Warning (!) indicators around the clock was the original configuration. Note the center vent with the flow **** - I like this but the vents are smaller. This sort of explains why the later cars have the flow to the drivers face (from the vent LHS) partially blocked by the side of the pod - since originally this portion was just the ****.
This model also has the rear wiper control as a twist **** on the pod.
The button on the "blank" panel under the AC head is the warning reset/acknowledge button and warning messages are illuminated on the rest of that panel in text form. There were several different AC Head with subtle marking changes... Were some early cars also delivered without AC for some markets?
Until when non-AC heater was available? I think I have seen '79 ROW model long ago which didn't have AC but it could have been late registered '78 also.
