Default Rim/Rubber sizing

Sorry Randy, but getting close to selecting wheels, question;

I looked at wheels from a '05 Carrera 5 spkoke 18" x 8 et57 and x10 et58, however rubber is a concern. Fronts are 235/40 and rears are 265/40 , is this a desirable size, would they be too tall? I believe most here are using 225/40 and 265/35.
Are these a direct bolt on, would I need to remove spacers on rear, is stud length(too long with stock nuts) an issue ?
I know I have asked of many for help , but want to make the correct choice.
Thanks

Code:
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
225/50-16         4.4in  12.4in    24.9in         78.1in        811        0.0%
225/40-18         3.5in  12.5in    25.1in         78.8in        804        0.9%
235/40-18         3.7in  12.7in    25.4in         79.8in        794        2.2%
265/40-18         4.2in  13.2in    26.3in         82.8in        765        6.0%
265/35-18         3.7in  12.7in    25.3in         79.5in        797        1.8%
Rears are bit too high IMHO. 265/35-18 would be as good as it can get.

On tire rack web site each tire will tell you it's specs including height and recommended rim width. Want 4 16x9" club sports with new tires? pm me if you do.

How about 285/30/18's, they are 24.8" tall and will fit on a 10" wide wheel with no problems. (It's what I run!)

The 265/40/18's are fine to run and will cause no real problem, just a slight speedometer deviation. They are what Stan runs on the Canary and they look fantastic, fit perfect and work like they were made for the car. Yes, you will have to remove the rear spacers though...

Wear the tires down and then get the right size. Some of my open road racing buddies run these tire dimensions to get higher top speed. No problem.

After removing spacers, what about wheel stud length? Do I need to replace with shorter length?

Also, will the differnce in wheel diameter front to back be of concern?
