It's an awesome kit, but there are WAY more auto 928s than manuals.

I would get the fittment tested on an auto ASAP, otherwise you probably just lost 75% of your prospective customers, who thought the kit would fit their autos.

It's still an awesome kit.
I just want to see your boosting business take off.
The more kits out there, the better.
But it's going to be a small market if it only fits manual 928s...

Hey, don't knock the twin turbo setup just yet...it can be done at a reasonable cost. I will prove this soon. I'll have at least as much turbocharger capacity and a lot more intercooler capacity with shorter pipe runs. My system will start with a stock exhaust, minus rear can muffler and intermediate mufflers. You will simply mount the new manifolds, turbos and downpipes and hook into the stock system from there.

Consider the twins split the heat load through the turbo, offer slightly better spool and allow you to easily mount twin air to air front mounted charge coolers. I think each of my charge air coolers are 150+% of the one you show. Pipe is cheap. Additionally a car like the 928S4 is fully worthy of a TT system, this is the path Porsche would have taken on the 928.

The workmanship on your setup looks really great. Best of luck with it...I just think you need to move the turbo(s) forward about 4'

If you are going to turbo a 928...it should be a 5-speed. BC is right though...the AT cars are more common. Just look at Goldmember...oh the dirty Goldmember. I miss that car....power/brake launches yielded 5.2 seconds 0-60 with a filthy 3-spd AT.

Kuhn. Not trying to hijack this thread, but is your system going to work reliably without tearing into the engine and lowering the CR and changing to forged pistons?

Default Great job!!

Hi Mark,

Congratulations on getting this Turbo kit put together! The workmanship looks very well done and it seems you spent a lot of time and re$ources getting it to this stage. I know there are many who appreciate your efforts and are looking forward to your continued development of this Turbo set up. Sometimes I think we 928ers have gotten a bit spoiled with all the great stuff out there for us to enjoy and forget about how much effort goes into this kind of project for such a small market base.

Cheers,
Constantine

I've dismissed the incredible feat (& price) of trying to kit a pair of twins & all the required plumbing, & the rear & lack of problems associated there with. The single turbo is a very roomy setup that might yield the flexibilty to be easily fit onto Autos with minmal changes. Let me experiment with this as time allows as it is in my path of things to do.

nice looking work. i'm sure you'll get lots of criticizm on various issues, but try not and let that bother you too much. it's probably the first comercially available turbo system available for the 928. hopefully it will stay that way.

Thumbs up

Mark,
For my part, I'm only critical of you being critical of those being critical of you and your work.
Did you **** off Jim B. or what???
I saw the setup -3rd Coast- on that 85/86 Meteor silver metallic, set up was nice even if not finalized. Very quiet, too! Your departure from
Rogers "Burgers in the Park' festival was swift with no whine. And you weren't even rompin' on it.
I'd have Pattycakes, or Zack's 81' down there for an install but chose to wander down Paul Champagnes' 'Path of Leather' this year. I'm budgeted to what my monthly payments were on Pattycakes -pretty low- so it's one project a year for the likes of me. Gives you a chance to perfect a 3 speed ( Dirty! The very, nerve of some of those damn 5 spd swine. harumph...) edition for
Zack and me.
Bear with us slowpokes, and keep on plugging away. Your effort as well as all Huffer developement from either camp is much appriciated.
I toast you and thank you for your interest, effort and lonesome expense...

Great work Mark, Very close to the setup i have been working on for my 88. I pulled the rear seats and am raising the flor boards there to allow room for the twins. Lots of work and far from a bolt on but heck it for my car. I have no plans to make a kit of it, thats just to much dang work.

Hi Mark,

greetings from bavaria and let me tell you that your kit looks awsome.
There is a huge amount of time and very high level of engineering and craftsmanship behind that.
Don't let you stop from following that path, be open for constructive criticism and forget about all the others.
I also own a S4 auto and I fully agree that there is a high market potential out there.
As far as I understood you are doing everything on your own and I think all of us should respect this because from my point of few this is incredible effort for a private person.
The other point we all should not forget is, that with such an additonal option for power in the market all our 928 addicted lifes are going to get more colourful.

Keep up the fantastic work an keep us updated on future developments.

Cheers
Stefan
