Default Do I have the wheels on right?

When i first got this car i was told that the wheels were on the wrong axles.

Are these forged wheels?

The ones that are on the front are dished in with 225/50zr16's on them.

The ones that are on the back are dished out and have 245/45zx16's on them.

Is this right or do i need to switch the rims and tires?
Thanks Greg N

Nope! The 245's go on the dished 8" rims, the 225's go on the 7". The dished rims go on the rear axle.

Do the tires have rotational tread arrows on them?

Bill is right.

The wrong sized tires are on the wrong sized rims AND the rims are on the wrong end of the car.

Using your terminology, you need to put the 245s on the "dished in" (8") rims and the 225s on the "dished out" (7") rims. The 245s on the 8" rims go on the rear and the 225s on the 7" rims go on the front.

Hard to believe that someone could screw up tire mounting so completely!

It happened to me at the local Wheelworks. 4 new tires on the wrong rims and the rims on the wrong ends of the car. The tire monkey was obviously not paying attention or he came up with some perverse logic that lead him to put the small tires on the big rim and then the big rim upfront. I pointed it out to the manager who had the errors fixed but said absolutely nothing in the form of an apology. Next.

Hi if you look on the back of the rims you should be able to find a marking that should say either 7J or 8J or 9J this is the rim width the wider rims go on the back and the narrow rims go on the front, time for a return to the tire store, also as noted look for directional indicators on the tire sidewall, it might say outside or have an arrow indicating tire rotation, goodluck, Stan

That's not the first time I've seen that.

When I first bought my car (12 years ago), there was another 928 at the dealer. It was a light blue "S" model owned by Ed Belfour (this is when he was still with the Chicago Blackhawks). The dealer sold and mounted a new set of 3 piece cups and totally screwed up wheels. 245's were on the front while the 225 were on the rear. I questioned them about it and I was told "that's how these cars are".

Have seen 8" and front and 7" at back done by tire shop worker who just happened to own S4 in question. There is something in the way flats look what makes them do it I think.

I bought my car like that too but on the CS wheels the outside face looks the same front and back. What gave it away was that the front tyres protruded more than 1/2" wider each side than the wheel arches. It was so obviously wrong that I couldn't believe anybody could make such a mistake. Fortunately, it led me suspect the PO was a dummy and I was right. He hadn't realised after more than 3 years of ownership that it was a GT! I paid his asking price with pleasure.

Heh, my 944 Turbo S came with 225's all around, even on the 9" rears. The rim lips stuck out so far that they were badly curbed on both sides. And just for fun there was one 9" on each end of the car, opposite sides.
