I was concerned too but so far so good. They do a really good job of taping and sealing the passenger compartment. I am going to try to pull the seats out before they paint the body so that I can work on the leather and avoid any chance of overspray on them. Also, I'm going to replace the carpet soon so it's no worry. I guess we'll know the outcome of the rest of the interior in a few weeks.

Here are a few more pics taken 8/28. We're getting closer.
On a side note, I visited a local powdercoater last week who is a potential new vendor at work. During a tour of the facility, I noticed a set of freshly coated valve covers and wheels glistening in the sun by the dock door. I guess I know what the next project will be but I'm gonna spend some quality time behind the wheel first. I miss the bwaaaaa!!!
ELLSSUU - I will PM some pics of a variety of Jags and the like that are at the shop. There's quite a few.

That looks very nice!!! Did you check the interiori for overspray already? Hope you did not get any overspray where you don't want it...
How did you guys handle the stickers in the door jamb? Cover them and spray around them? Just curious...

I checked the front and rear seats and didn't find any overspray. Everything inside is pretty dusty but I didn't find paint adhered to any of the interior panels. Somebody that has way more patience than me masked the door jamb stickers and did a good job of it too. I'll get a close up shot of them the next time I'm there.

Mike--
Looks from the pics like it's coming along well. I was feeling bad for you about the damage, especially after the extra effort you put in bringing the car home the first time with the 'right' paint and color combo. And after seeing it at SC dyno day in Greer. It looks like it will be great when it's done though. I hope you are billing the perp's insurance for the loss of use, as a rental car allowance at least. No way to gain back the time, but maybe $30/day will ease the pain a bit.
When will it be finished and back in your garage at home?

Brings back memories, if I ever went through this again I would have taken some time to strip out the interior and had them cover the top and underside of the engine bay with plastic wrap. It takes forever to get rid of all the dust and some of it never comes out.
When I drove the car from the shop to my place for re-assembly once i hit 25mph there was a massive dust cloud from the vents, must have looked humorous to onlookers for sure.
Looks like your car is making good progress, bet you can't wait for it to be finished !!

Mike,
Good luck on the restoration! I have a '90 GT with the same wheels you show in your pics. I purchased my 928 three months ago with them on. I don't know anything about them. Who makes them? More important, What are they worth?? Thank You in advance for your reply!

Thanks to all.
dr bob,
I had a rental Chevy Silverado for a month but turned it back in. The damage done in the wreck could have been repaired in that time and I didn't want to create any issues with the ins. company by keeping it any longer. We still haven't settled the injury claim. I've been in phys. therapy for about 2 months now. Turns out my neck took more of a beating than I initially thought.
I just realized today that the list I used to order rubber and trims didn't include the quarter window seals so I'll be ordering them tomorrow for delivery in about 2 weeks. The shop manager says they'll go ahead and assemble everything but the front bumper and quarter windows and finish those when I take them the parts so it looks like we're out about 3 more weeks.
Chris,
I'll be sure to take the shop manager with me for my first drive. If there's a dust cloud, I want him to be in it with me. I can't wait for it to be done but I'm gonna miss having an excuse to stop by this shop whenever I want. I drive buy it on my way to and from work and talk about feeling like a kid in a candy store.
CHRIS-90GT,
The wheels were on it when I bought it but I have the receipt. They're listed as - BW 17" 3.6 Replica 3-Piece Wheel - from 928 Specialist at $2425.00 including center caps in 2002. I'm not sure if they're still available.

Hi Mike,
My wife and I met you both at SITM, I was the guy who did a quick detail of your rear spoiler. Great to see your car getting back together and everything looking so nice. My wife's car, which is a kin to yours in both year and color, will need to be repainted soon due to sunfading of the top panels. Your story and pics have given me inspiration to get this done. Please post the "after" pictures when it's all ready.
Cheers,
Constantine

It's soooo close. There were several parts that weren't included in the list I used and I've been ordering them as the shop tells me what is needed during reassembly. Luckily 928 Spec. is close by so delivery is pretty quick. I just recently received the door window seals and I think the quarter window seals will be here Monday from Germany. I thought that was the last of it but I was told that they need new clips to install the door sills (?) and that they lost the hood bolts so I'll be calling Jeannie again Monday morning. I bit the bullet and bought a new front bumper cover. It's only money, right. It was prepped and primed when I stopped by Wednesday. I was hoping we'd be ready to roll on 9/28 but if not, it will be really close.

Funny thing is the 928's look a hell of a lot meaner of a car without the doors and covers etc... at least yours does.. it looks like it just ate another car for lunch.... I can't wait to get mine back... 1 month of owner ship w/ 3 days of driving it not right I tell you... someone upstairs is tinkering with my happiness
