This car has been discussed in an earlier tread last week. Unless you are extremely suffieient with tools and have a lot of time and $$$$. I would stay away form this one. It hasn't run in years and interrior was taken apart for some reason. Sad to say it, but this car is nothing more than a parts car.

besides interior, what is shot? what is the miliage? you could get yourself in very deep financially trying to bring any old car back to life, Porsches more so, 928's even more so. I guess the question is, what are your intentions? do you want a fully restored car? a track car? something that runs well but is rough around the edges?

I bought one like that when I was starting out with 928's. About 12000.00 later and countless hours I had a nice ride. I replaced it later with a very nice s4 5spd.for less than that. So the point being...............................

I bought a 79 with a better interior, mint engine, awesome suspension and brakes, no tranny, for a thousand dollars. 2k is way too much for this one. no more than a thousand... and I agree with IMo000... really, its only value is as a parts car. real sad. if you have the time and the space, I'd see if I could get it for way less, part it out, use the profits toward a decent specimen.

Walk, no RUN away from cars like this, unless yoiu want it for parts to support another car. Shop for a car that's in running condition, cosmetically sound, and you'll save $$$. The market for the cars is not very high (yet), mostly because folks dump cars like that one. Somebody picks it up for a bargain price, only to find out later that the cost of bringing it back to just basic driving shape is many $thousands more than they paid for the car. So it goes on the market for a bargain price, and another dreamer gets sucked in and ruined.

Go find the best/newest/lowest mile example your budget will allow, keeping in mind that the -maintenance- portion of the ownership expereince is typically in the $1500/yr range. That's not for any restoration, just to keep it up enough to drive it. The car you are looking at now probebly sold for mid $40k range, and that was 25 years ago when money was a bit more valuable. Maintanence and repairs are to a $45k car that's 25 years old, and there's obvioly a lot of catch-up to be done to that car.

Meanwhile, there's a pristine low-mile S4 that has just come onto the market, for about $23k. It's cheaper than the one you are looking at, really.

the good part about a car this rugged, is that you don't have to poor 20k in one gulp in it.
you can make it a trickle and enjoy the fun...
does anyone have info on where to turn for parts?

I don't think you're getting the message here. This is the kind of car that can lead to alot of unnecessary "heartache". If you don't need a parts car, keep on moving.
