Can the rocker mouldings on an S4 be adjusted for a better fit?
On both the driver and passenger side of my car, the very front and rear sections of the moulding has pulled slightly away from the car. I am assuming that they are held in place with some kind of double-sided tape. With care, is it possible to remove these items (do some cleanup) and then re-install with new tape?
Has anyone ever done this? What are the thoughts on it?
Thanks.
Rob

Alright, that sounds like it's doable. Thanks Brian & Jim.
Brian, having done auto detailing what do you suggest to aid in removal of the mouldings (something like a 3M adhesive remover) ? Preferably something that would not harm the paint.
I would then be re-applying the mouldings after cleaning off the old double sided tape. I only need to do the ends near the wheel openings, not the center section.

Recently I had one of mine pull lose. On the back they are held in place w/2 sided tape. Granted heavy duty but none the less. As Jim pointed out there is a bolt on the bottom edge that needs to be removed as well. I picked up some 3M trim adhesive tape from Advance. Cleaned the car, cleaned the back of the moulding using goo gone then used some rubbing alcohol to remove any remaining residue and applied the new tape and all done. Was actually pretty easy to do and looks much better than before.

Michael,
That is my intention exactly. The center portions (both on the doors and below) are fine, the ends near the wheel openings are off-kilter a bit. My only problem is that they aren't lose... getting them off without damaging them or the paint is the key.

My driver's side one was completely detached. 1 bolt to remove.
Lots of adhesive remover and elbow grease with scraper. Some fresh 3M hi-strength double sided tape. The gray stuff with red plastic film covering.
Sticks on good now.
Not sure what would be a good tool for removing a partially stuck-on moulding.
DR had said it was a real b#tch removing the moulding.
Not sure why the original tape unstuck by itself.

I recall reading in the manual that you can use a hair dryer to heat the mouldings a bit to soften the tape, i think the temp was maybe 70 degrees C but you'd need to check that.
