Chuck,

Awesome find! But definitely not my cup of tea.

Did you take those pictures?

Cheers,

That is one wild color scheme .. wonder how they chose light green and violet for the interior?!?

Is that the same 'Pearlglanz' color as Stan's S4?

I think Raspberry would have been much nicer, but that's just me ;-)

Man did the guy who bought it ever get reamed on the options! $9095 for colored seat belts and $22410 for 20 meters of violet carpet! Wholly $hit! Then he barely drives it and sells it for $74K to the guy in France.

Pretty cool car, there definitely isn't another one like it!

If it has been perfectly preserved and low miles it will be worth triple digits like some of the other special GTS's that have sold recently.

Tom,

Pearlglanz just means pearl effect (or something like that). Stan's car is something completely different Elphenbien is the color IIRC and is off white, like Ivory. This was was paint to sample and the closest thing on the road that you will find to this color is probably the Porsche Cayman R in Peridot...

Ted,

[quote] there definitely isn't another one like it! [quote]

NOT YET anyway!

Ben,

March 18th or there about!

Where did you read this? This is not how I understood the story (which means my memory may be fuzzy).

Jim - It's at the bottom of the 928registery.org page. The price of the spare carpet, hides, etc., is in another document on the page.

"This car was built for a buyer who thought he was getting the last 928 GTS built. When he found out Porsche AG was building the last GTS for display in their museum he backed out of the deal. Original MSRP was $168,539 and $184,938 including Lux Tax. Champion Porsche ended up with the car and sold it to a guy in Florida who bought it for his mother to drive. Shortly after buying the car he bought her something else to drive. He realized she was driving a piece of history and decided it might be a good investment. Later the same owner put the car on consignment at Champion Porsche where it sold for $74,000 to an individual from France who reportedly exported it France.

Yep... a special order 'match to sample' often required the owner to buy additional paint, carpet and/or leather so they would have a match if repairs were needed in the future.
