Wow Chuck, thanks for sharing
I remember walking through the dealership sometime in the 90's and looked at a GTS who's sticker was $102,000 +- a few bucks. I also remember seeing the origional in 1979 at the dealership and not likeing the checker board interior too much. Now I have my own 79 and intend to drive it till I can't I can't believe the rest of the population can't see the real value in these cars. I guess that just leaves more for us.

Villheuer: I also stumbled upon a set of 993 wheels with 2 of them being 8x17 et70, and I have 5mm spacers now using 245/40/17 tires. I noticed some rubbing with hard cornering. I found out that those wheels were 911 winter rears... strange to have a large offset.
Who doesn't love that GTS. Sick color. Awesome.

That interior is certainly an inspiration.
Funny, that this is the first leather cargo cover that I have seen and it's exactly how I'm making mine, down to the engraved crest.

I don't pretend to be at that level yet, but I'll say it again; nothing comes close to a finely tailored leather interior

Nop, not me. I did have a show running on PBS a long time ago, but it was about lutherie and my classical guitars.

Chuck... You ARE the man. I love the things that you share with the community. Truly subjects of substance.

I have found several items on this car to be "out of the ordinary".

I think this car can be tracked down. I have business contacts in France if that is the last known place for this car. I DO wonder why the last US dealership that had the car, has no clue as to where it went....rather strange.

If I get a chance, I will send out a few emails and see if we can get a scent on the trail of this car. I would love nothing more than to see it back here in the states.

BTW, if anyone is good at photochop, they should be able to bring those pics to the hue and tones to show the true colors of this unicorn.

This car seems to be not registered in France.
This doesn't mean it is not in France...

I can't remember where I heard it had gone to France. Might not be true at all. Anyone have active Carfax account? It shows 8 records but I can't see what they contain without paying.

I started the story about the car being in France after a visit to Champion a few years ago. I was told by the salesman who sold the car it went to France. Seems a gentlemen who invented some sort of filter for a camera lens came in and saw the car and bought it on the spot. Since he was French, he took the car to France. The car may or may not be in France. Pretty good assumptionn that where ever it is, it is not registered.

I also have a current carfax on this car and there are no entries after 1999.

Chuck, Thanks. I knew I had read it somewhere. It's gone hiding for now but surely will eventually pop up again. If 3k miles is still all it has it's never gonna see the road again. Too valuable for that.

Better yet - assuming he has the negatives - take them to a pro developing shop. I'm sure they will have a high end negative scanner. The quality from hi-rez negs is better than most digital cameras can produce.
