Default Window trim clean up?

I have my window trim off the doors to do a full repaint of the car and found out the trim was painted with the car by PO. I have slowly removed some of the paint and the anodized aluminum under it is beautiful. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to remove the paint without damaging the anodizing, maybe by a heat gun or chemical? The method I used was a sharp hard plastic stick but this would take a month to complete.

Mine is painted black, not raw aluminum. Yours?

I found that it's usually fun to poke at things with a hard plastic stick. But maybe not that long.

For my belly pan, I used a standard pain stripper and it pretty much just bubbled up and wiped off. I'm pretty sure it would do the job without harming the aluminum, but maybe you would want to test a small spot first.

dr bob mine are aluminum but have black anodizing on them. The car was painted by the PO and no one bothered to mask off the trim because they were painting it black.

Kraabel I used a heat gun to remove the paint from one and the finish under it was beautiful. I will have to try to upload a photo.

Brake fluid is a great paint remover. Who knows what it does to anodizing ... ??

Since it's hygroscopic, maybe you can thicken it into a paste like gravy.

Your trim is anodized. You cannot remove the "paint" without removing the "anodizing"!

You CAN make it look better by rubbing it gently with a very fine steel wool pad soaked in WD-40; Or you can remove the trim all together [I have no idea how it is secured; you are the "test pilot" now] and have it re-anodized. Or painted. Or powder-coated; The limit is determined by your wallet. I suggest you paint them black if you get them off without bending them into pretzels. Any bend at all is going to show up afterwards- If you are planning on spending big $ [i.e $5000 or more] on a respray, then you should probably just replace all of them. That's what I would do-

Normy, anodizing is much harder than paint and I now have one side completed and they are perfect!

Send your pictures to S2928porsche@aol.com and I'll post them.

-Another way to do this is to send to the person directly by clicking on their name, and then "send email to Normy", or whatever it says.
