Twin Turbo S4...Evolving Plans

Twin Turbo S4...Evolving Plans
As we were following the Jayco tent camper through some back woods end of southern Kentucky this Sunday (on the way back from NC) I had a vision:
7 psig of twin turbo boost on the stock 928S4 internals and see what happens.
So, there you have it. I will be blowing (no pun intended) the stock engine with 170K on the clock to a level of 7 psig. This car will be intercooled (those at SITM saw the big gun intercoolers) and will use the Garrett Ball Bearing turbochargers I also had on display.
Exhaust modifications will be simple...each turbo will dump into the stock system. The intermediate mufflers will be lifted in favor of free flowing units and the rear can will be dumped for an RMB...Viola...instant low cost free flow system.
I located a set of 88 S4 heads such that I can fabricate the exhaust manifolds on the bench block (the soon to be retired 84 Callaway sleeved block) and also test fit to the car during fabrication...having a full engine in and out of the car is simply awesome for this type of work.
Lets call it the fast track project...lots of potential here and I expect there are just a few people interested in the results. Once proven...she can be torn down to lower CR and go out to one bar.

Damn it! I knew one of you guys snuck a photo or two in on me up there. By the end of the day I was putting my sun screen over the "goods" to protect their identity.
In this photo you can see the charge air coolers...there are three. (Recall I'm building a 4.7 16 valver as well).
Yes..."properly" mounted turbos. If you look closely in the photo you can see the Callaway boost gauge where the clock used to be!
So...a little cat out of the bag (thought I would add that cat comment in...seems rather fitting, no?)

JEC_31's cat looks flat out psycho.

Azrael has calmed down a bit since that pic and is now a decent housecat, but his feral roots still show up once in a while. Then he gets crazy aggressive, climbing walls and and chasing the other cats around. Then he gets booted outside to the dog kennel! On the plus side, he's very good with the baby at all times.
Back on topic, the forced induction options for 928s keep getting wilder and more varied. I can't wait to see this project unfold!

Everytime I see that picture of the gold paint-huffing loser, I giggle like a little school-girl.
I am very interested in your turbo efforts. Maybe I can run down from Indy sometime and check it all out.
