Tarek, I am sorry that I didn't get a chance to meet you at SITM. But, the PO of my 81 has an 84 he is parting out that has a very nice and complete front clip. It's even the same color as your car. It has everything you need including headlights, fenders and hood. If you like, I could check with him and see what kind of deal I could swing for you. PM me if you are interested. BTW, you probably saved a lot of people from tickets of their own, or worse since everone toned it down a bit after your incident. Sure glad you were both OK. Good luck.

the important things are that Tarek and his passenger are ok and many who would otherwise drive a bit "crazy" will remember this and see it as a wakeup call

Tarek, when you're ready I think I have some early ob drive/fog lenses I'd be happy to donate to the cause, just pm me with a shipping address

Randy, were you there? Just wondering.....seems there is a lot of bad info flying about on the whole matter.

Edit: Let me add that there are few people on this list, or in this world for that matter, who have traveled more miles in a 928 in front of or behind Tarek and have seen his driving style and capabilities first hand than myself. There was a little added variable called gravel, that I dealt with myself down there, that tells me accidents happen regardless of skill. We all take the risk when we go above the posted limit.....and let the first man who hasn't taken that risk be the first to cast his stone at me if he/she feels the need. I for one am very sorry it happened, but glad that Tarek and his passenger are fine, and will have the pleasure again one day to flog the roads with Tarek I hope.

Regards,
JE

I have pretty much the whole front end from an 82 (black) except the passenger fender. If there is something I can do to help let me know and I will get you the parts you need.

you can email me at rod.kubis'at'rogers.com

Hi Rod,
Thanks a bunch for the sentiment and support!!!! and yes I would love to see what you have in parts that can help me get through this. My PM's are finally working again....so I will be contacting you for sure.
thanks again!

Hi Jack,

I'm sorry we didn't meet at SITM, although we emailed back and forth in the distant past at some point. About that front clip your PO has, did you get the chance to check with him? My PM's are now working, so feel free to let me know via PM. Thanks again!

Hi Rixter,

That is generous of you to donate to the cause. I will send you a pm, now that it's working again

John, thanks for the supportive comments. Always a pleasure to drive with you. Hopefully I'll recover from this accident and be willing to drive "normal" again. If not in NC, may be on the Nurburgring? best of luck in your new life. Come back at see us at SITM if you can

Randy, Andrew, and Tony,

Thank you for the explanation. It would be silly to believe any of you meant any 'harm'. We're friends here (although I never met Randy in person) and it is not necessary to let a miscommunication or misunderstanding go too far.

Clearly the exagerations, wherever they came from, and the humor about the situation were a bit premature or inconsiderate, considering the timing, and the immediate snowball of rumors they produced. I don't hold grudges, especially if the offender didn't mean to offend. There is no doubt in my mind that you were concerned and your hearts were in the right place, especially after having taken the time to think and share your thoughts here.

We'll probably be laughing about the situation next year over a beer. (A scotch if Randy makes it to SITM).

I must tell you that this has been more diffcult to deal with on the personal level than I thought it was going to be. No one is ever truly prepared for an accident, I guess, and I'm trying to stay focused on the positive aspect of it, and that is the fact that no one was physically harmed and pehaps it helped curb the enthusiasm of others who might otherwise have also wrecked or received citations by law enforcement.

Tarek, I was about a 1/4 mile behind you. I was approaching the turn and a park ranger with lights blazing pulled a u-turn in front of me. I am glad my car had ABS or I would have t-boned him for sure. He was yelling and pointing at me. He quickly turned around and headed back in the other direction. As we approached the scene of the accident the offiecr waved a few of us off the BRP and I thought he was going to ticket us. We kept going down the road and ended back on the BRP an exit down. Glad you were ok.
