Toothed belt light came on when I was almost home. The car is safely in the garage waiting for a timing belt retention.

My a/c went out on the way down. Haven't recharged in two years, so hopefully it's just low on refrigerant.

Timing Belt light came on doing the Blueridge parkway homeward bound. Checked tension in a parking lot thanks to John Shilling and Brian Smith. Re-tensioned the belt but noticed that the passenger side belt is on the front edge so I will be doing the belt and checking the tensioner bolt to prevent any diasters i.e Big Dave's Mishap. Ed M

Drove over a tire when switching lanes on the interstate, 1/4 of the belly pan is MIA.

Car died on the way. Two lane highway, raining buckets. Would start but couldn't keep running. Fifteen minutes later it kicked in. Got to SITM, drove Blue Ridge Parkway, no problems. 3/4 of the way home, it happened again. 30 min. later, it decided to act right and got home. No biggie, but a PITA.

Mine was running great but gave me a TB light 3/4 of the way home. Pulled into the next gas station to give it a 1/4 turn, but on start up it sounds like something is rattling under the TB covers, so I'm guessing one of the pulleys has become loose. Car still runs well, but the noise made me too nervous to drive it the rest of the way so I locked it, talked to the folks at the station and left it. Chaadster and Mark H. (Shaarks) have generously offered to go get her with a flatbad so I can get back to the office. Incredible guys!!!

It sounds like the mountain roads in NC really put some loads on the timing belts. Mine had 1,500 miles or so before the trip and I checked tension before leaving (perfect).

Other problems I know of:

Dennis's Weissach has a clutch problem, and another '83 got stranded in Columbus on Friday with its own clutch problem.

I'm exhausted!!

Once we got there, everything at SITM was great. We were rear-ended on the way, but no problems at all once we got there and on the way home. The drive to the restaurant was amazing and the car performed flawlessly even with its wounded rear. Damn I love this car!!! I apologize to whoever got stuck behind me on the way to the restaurant. I'm sure my wrinkled *** didn't provide an attractive view but I did all I could to leave you behind so you wouldn't have to look at it.

WooHoo!! NO ISSUES FOR ME! The whole time I was down there I kept wanting to mention how well my car was driving, but I didn't want to Jinx myself.

FWIW - Switching to Shell Rotilla 15w-40 before coming was the best decision I could have ever made hands down.

I'm in the No Issues category, but was really worried about my left rear tire. While getting gas at the restaurant Saturday evening, someone pointed out visible tire cord on the left rear. The tire held together on the drive back on Sunday!! New shoes arrive today on the UPS truck from Tire Rack.

No issues except for a speedometer that only worked about half the time. Its a wonder I didn't get picked off. Great meeting, great folks. Hope everybody made it home safely.
