My first trip to SITM is not off to a great start. It has been proven that a Ford Taurus Wagon and a 928 GT should not try to occupy the same space at the same time. I don't think he ever touched his brakes. It still runs and drives fine and we're here at the Best Western in Banner Elk. Excuse me while I go cry now.

No!

I think it looks worse than it is. The fender is your biggest issue...

At least you're ok but that probably doesn't mean much right now.

Hang in there.

My wife and I were in the car. We're OK now but we'll see how we feel in the A.M. I smacked my head pretty good on the top and my wife was turned looking at me when he hit us and she's feeling a little weird but hopefully it's just the shock of it all. I got pushed into some brand new hella special edition mega Mustang. No visible damage to my front but it split his fiberglass bumper and cracked it around the trunk opening. The car still had dealer tags on it and the guy said the price tag was around $120,000. I didn't know they made stangs that cost that much!

I bet he didn't know you could buy 5 or 6 928's (1 of the best Porsches ever made) and SC them for that.

What a scary experience!!! I'm glad you did not suffer any bodily harm - or at least nothing serious, from what it sounds like.

Hope you can still enjoy the event. You'll have lots of experts on hand to give you suggestions on how to deal with the insurance, or how to approach the repair.

Mike,

this blows. i am sorry to see your shark in this shape - i know it hurst and been there many times (none of which was my fault - i hate those idiots out there). Anywways, here is the good thing: your fender looks good and it does not seem to have been touched, awesome, the lines around the rear (hatch to fender, hatch to bumper, etc. seem to be in good alignment so no structural damage. The hit seems to have messed the bumper cover only. You can get a used bumper from 928 International along with a left rear light and get the bumper painted. I think this is a 2K job total max. Don't sweat it (I know i sweat it though), but i think you will be fine.
Oh before i forget, the insurance will pay for a new bumper, but the S4/GT is no longer available from Porsche and only GTS bumpers are there. So you can either upgrade the look (not for me), or take the $$$ and pocket $1000 and buy a used one and keep the original look (hey you just made some money )...

Sincerely,

Aw crap... that really sucks.

You're bound to meet folks with spare parts this weekend though.... might not be as bad as it seems.

YIkes, that does suck. Nicole does paint the postive here in that you'll be able to consult with very knowledgable people on how to repair...

I don't think I have to worry about that. Nature will take care of it pretty soon. He looked like the crypt keepers grandpa. The old guy could barely walk and shouldn't have been driving in the first place.
