No, several aftermarket shops did the conversions.

Nope. IIRC they may have made a development car or a show car but all of the 928 cabs out there are custom bodied.

Carelli was the closest thing to a factory cabriolet. As far as Carelli was concerned, their work was not a conversion. They had a deal directly with Porsche to take the monocoque's off the line and modify before the cars received any further Porsche equipment. This was an option offered by dealers if you wanted to order a convertible 928. AKA "C928". All the rest were certified after market conversions. Most done right here in southern California.

Ken, that first car is from a local attorney who had his Carelli updated with S4 clips. The car was originaly a 1979 or 1980. The car has since changed hands in the past 5 years.

Scott Mohr has a couple of Carelli's. Very nicely done. My car was done by Newport conversions....I think!...still investigating.

Hey Keith... how's it hanging?

The first car in Kens post is now in England. A nice young chap named clive owns it. (if it is the same car...he did mention that he imported it from CA.)

The 79 5spd I have is a Carelli kit. Carelli licensed the kit to shops and most of the cabs I've recorded are of that style. e.g. Randy V's old ride.
The white 80 auto (now Tass's restored ride) was a one off by Coachworks in Florida.

How long before you drive you Cab?

Quick Reply: 928 cab. Are they factory?
