Hi Dave,
They are all the same design - try the ST you received yesterday.....that will prove where the problem is...

Doesn't Dave's PC have a serial port? I didn't think they had been eliminated from motherboard design quite yet. The main issue I had with the Spanner was finding a serial cable with the correct gender on both ends.

Had similar issues with my SMT and laptop...no serial connector..so had to find a USB-serial convertor and finally got it working...
Chris F sent me this link the other day...now that would be a nice solution...as most laptops come with Bluetooth these days...
http://www.iogear.com/main.php?loc=product&Item=GBS301

It's pretty steeply priced at $100....but as with all tech..just wait..and it'll be at your neighborhood Comp USA for 5.99 ..

Later,
Tom

BTW..Dave...nice results..look forward to seeing the whole thing in person one of these days.. ..

Tony,

When did you break in the shop and take pictures of the air guide?

You should have at least said "Hi" when you were here :-)

But that setup won't get you past the speed of sound.

Doncha need at least Mach 1+ to outrun radar?
Does anyone still make that great stealth VW Golf/Rabbit Gen. 1 body kit?

Alright, I have to chime in, what a great setup, results, fit, finish and everything else. Great job there Dave. OK, I have to admit, I was not contemplating SC'ing the car, but after seeing this, it is hard to justify NOT SC'ing the car. How how to sneak this past the significant other in the budget. Dave, how long is the wait list? When will 85 MY be ready and what else will have to be changed? I already eliminated the mechanical cooling fan and have electric fans on car now. Looks like would need later year throttle cables and mechanism? Auto trans kick down cable? Cruise control cable? Can't hardly wait til SITM.

Glen,

Thanks, I hope eveyone feels the same when they see the final product!

Slush fund.. we do it for guys all the time. Took one guy only 6 months to hide enough for a set of Kinesis wheels "under the radar" :-)

> Dave, how long is the wait list?

If ordered today I would estimate a 3-4 month delivery time. Hopefully sooner if we can get faster at production, but all my changes have made production a lot more complicated, and there are a LOT of people already in line.

>When will 85 MY be ready.

Already have installs scheduled.

> and what else will have to be changed I already
>eliminated the mechanical cooling fan and have electric fans on car now.

The fans are one of the only real differences in the 85-86 32V Kit and will be provided with the kit. Of course if you already have that done then there will be a deduct on price.

> Looks like would need later year throttle cables and mechanism? Auto trans >kick down cable? Cruise control cable?

All stock control cables are retained, or you can change out to the S4 style control cables if you feel the effort is worth the difference. We can arrange the 85-86 32V kit either way.

>Can't hardly wait til SITM.

I have mixed feelings, I can't wait too, BUT my nerves and ever pressing "behind schedule issues" wish it was about 2 weeks later than it is..

Dave,

If you are building a list of customers to adapt previous Supermodels to your new air intake/throttle body setup, please add me to the list. Mine uses the Jag Eaton blower - hope that is not a problem. Also, I love the idler assembly. Any reason why I can't go to that setup as well?

Hi Cameron,
Yes we have plans to address both of these issues (see post#59 of this thread). There is no "list" at the moment. When the time comes the main thing I will need is a 928 with that system on it for about 2 weeks to go over everything (hint, hint :-).
