Default 94 WHITE GTS ON E-BAY

I almost bought this car and went so far as to have it inspected. It is a real good one but the owner in Oregon wouldnt sell it to me for less than 36.3k. I offered 33k. Now he sells it to Willhoit for 32k. He is looking to get 40k if you are interested. It appraised for 38.It was stll on autotrader.com for 37 plus from Doug Blizzard Motors of Portland.

Hi Mack-

Willhoit now has it posted on his site:
http://www.willhoitenterprises.com/car196.htm

In reading Chuck's registry info, it looks like a one owner car..I assume that's who you were dealing with?

From what the picures show, it looks like it's in nice shape.

Cool

It's a beauty all right, white with the grey supple leather. It also looks like it has the 17" Boxster TT wheels

They are Boxster/base 996 17" wheels and NOT turbo twists replicas or not.

maybe they are boxster. Doug Blizzard of Blizzard Motors in Oregon told me Turbo twist aftermarket. But then he didnt seem to know that much about the car anyway. It certainly looks a lot better than the pictures onauto trader .com which were taken in the rain.

Think about it...you are shelling out $90K for a car and you just take the basic leather option package. Seems a few more "G"'s would be no biggie at that point to upgrade the leather...unless of course you were tapped!

Tapped or the guy just didn't care for the leather upgrade option. By that thinking, every GTS out there should have every option or the original owner ran out of money. Really you could throw the S4's and GT's into that group. There are a lot of "odd" option combonations on some 928s out there. Just look at some of the interior/exterior color choices. I tend to think that a guy with 90K didn't think the upgrade was a big deal.

It could also be that a lot of the GTSs were ordered by dealers and not customers (as an incentive offered by PCNA to get other cars?) and therefore ordered with standard leather to keep the cost down or they just didn't care enough to check the box? Supple leather was a $561.00 option on my blue GTS.

Keith,
I guess I was also trying to understand if your comment was supple/draped vs standard on the seats or more of a get more leather ... By the time of the GTS the amount of standard leather in the car was decreasing notably. Basically I think standard was just seats, door inserts, cassette box, gear selector and steering wheel... Chuck will correct me though...

I wonder if it was just cost control (and a dealer opportunity to "sell-up") or a recognition that there were long term issues with leather panels that were starting to show up... maybe it was easier to deal with warranty issues on "customer specific options" Who knows?

Anyway I guess I mostly have poor mans leather then - dammit Keith I was feeling rich until yesterday...

You are correct about the leather. My black GTS has leather everywhere except the dash, pod and console. The entire door panel (including handles and lock *****), headliner, rear quarters, rear AC unit, rear hatch trim and all sun visors are leather. Extremely unusual especially for a car so near the end of production with an original MSRP of ~$100k. The original owner did order the car which would explain all the leather and wood.

My GTS supple leather seats aren't as comfortable as my poor man's seats in my S4.
