94 WHITE GTS ON E-BAY

Greg - funny you should say that - I've sat in draped leather seats for a while and felt the same way - not sure if it was just because they arent like mine (perforated leather) - but they felt lumpy to me and a bit too loose for my liking - like the surface slipped about as you slid in... Reminded me more of the leather on American cars - usually soft and squishy. My seats are very firm - not much give to the leather which is tightly stretched over the bolsters & padding. It feels like they will last forever (virtually industructible) with a little care. They are also very comfortable - bests seats I've ever had in a car by along way... And after 75K they still look virtually new...
Maybe I could get used to the draped/supple feel - maybe I'm just not old enough yet....

Trust me on this one, if you waltzed into a Porsche store and wanted to order a 928 5 speed Black with black and the store had a White with Burgundy automatic they would do everything possible to put your butt in the white car....everything. It would cost you THOUSANDS more to special order YOUR car, yet some did ! Dealers only inventoried 928s because Porsche made them take some , not because they wanted them ,they tied up too much money or finance charges and were never in HOT demand where they could charge a premium. Paying interest on $70,000 for six months can get expensive. The dealers must pay for the car before it gets shipped to them either with cash or borrowed (floorplan) money. Banks who floorplan used cars start getting nervous after 60-90 days and worry that the market has moved lower and insist that you get that unit off financing even if it means sending it to a wholesale auction and the dealer taking a loss ! Porsche Cars North America was given an allocation from Porsche Germany and the PCNA dealer representatives would call on the manager of the dealership and decide how many of what they could have and how many he MUST take ! You want an "extra" 911 Turbo ?

All I can tell you is that after 90 minutes of driving in my supple leather seats, my legs start to go numb and I find it difficult to get comfortable. The drive home from MO was difficult because of this. I have made the trip to Pittsburgh many times in my S4 and never had this problem. In fact, I would always say the same thing as Alan, the seats in my S4 are the best I've ever sat in.

Jim, Most Floorplans offer anywhere from 60-90 days before charging the dealer for the vehicle, but with cars built in Europe the transit time may eat most of that up. Dealers now can basically float the car and try to move it for a profit before they have to actually pay for it.
