Default Wheel weight on with duct tape

HAHAH!!! I was crawling around in some delicious power steering fluid under one of my cars (YUM!! just like Mama used to make it) ... when I came upon a unique way of balancing a wheel. LOL ... one of them has a duct-taped-on weight on the inner lip

I've seen people do that at an autocross to keep taped on weights from flinging off. Somebody told me it was required for the non-clipped on weights at the autocross.

Nine hundred and twenty eight uses for duct tape!

Otherwise know as "Jesus tape"..it performs miracles! Or, "Rock and Roll Tape"-if you are a musician, you know what I am talking about.

Check around the car for other ingenious ways of use Heinrich.

HTML Code:
one of them has a duct-taped-on weight on the inner lip
I understand in the USA you all drive at 55mph so probably duct tape is overkill

Generally the time we spend at 55 is measured in milliseconds, since the vehicle is only ppassing it in one direction or the other.

Yup, got me.

I'd come up with some clever jibe in return, but I'm fresh out of Swiss jokes... something about secret bank accounts, watches, neutrality and cheese with holes springs to mind, but it just won't gell...

My inside rim stuck-on weights are covered by nice silver metallic tape.
Never seen duct tape for this application before. Always the nice shiny silver stuff.

I've had stuck-on weights loosen and fall off when the double sided foam broke down.

Was going to post duck tape bikini picture but this ain't the OT place.

I've been unable to find that aluminum foil tape anywhere locally - and the balancing shops don't know what I'm asking for .... do you know of a product name and/or source for this? It is the slick way to protect tape-on weights!

Couldn't find it at Harborfreight.com.
But search for 'aluminum tape' turned up quite a few hits on Ebay.
For example:
http://cgi.ebay.com/3M-Aluminum-Tape...QQcmdZViewItem

Wonder what other uses there are for AL tape.
Guess one needs the thinnest AL tape for wheel weights so as not to bias the balance.

Instant shiny door sill covering.

You can get the aluminum tape at Home Depo or Lowes, usually near/around the ductwork aisle.

Roadracers use aluminum tape on their wheel weights so that the glue on the weights won't melt and cause the weights to fall off due to the heat-soak from the hot brakes once back in the pits from a track-session. It works very well.
