TB/WP completed but is running rough
Just completed the tb/wp - she started up ok, but is idling rough and shudders slightly at about 1k rpm. It also appears/smells to be running pretty rich. It is kinda like a big old American V8 rumble. I checked the timiing marks multiple times, and they always appeared to line up.
I had lent my MAF to someone to test their car, so I don't know if I've got a bad connection there, but I think it is more likely to be related to the TB/WP work.
Any suggestions?

Look around. You have upset something in the area you have been working. Wiggle the MAF connection. Look for vacum leaks. Make sure the coil wires are on good etc. etc...
You have probably done all of this, bu I would do again.

I can't think of anything TB/WP related that would cause rough idle and shudder except mixing a couple of the spark plug leads on the distributor cap. I did that once.

Its dark and I'm buggered - been a that thing since 7 hi morning (with an hour off for lunch!)
I double checked the spark plug leads before I started her, but I'll check again tomorrow. I'll do the same with all the other leads etc.
Thanks guys.

I see in another thread you've had some electrical issues. You don't mention them here. I think I would have left this question in that thread as it may be related more to that than the TB/WP.

Good point Bill - too tired I guess. I couldn't figure out where the one wire that splits off the harness just by the DS TB cover went to - it goes to a block by the headlight and is constantly hot. I fried a fuse when I was messing with it and the lights wouldn't go down, but I fixed the fuse and the lights seem to work now.

Hi just a thought if you disconnected the battery then the LH/EZK will need a few mins to reaquire the timing of the engine if the engine will idle then i would take it for a drive about 10 mins should do it, try a few full throttle romps
