I don't like installing alternators in the rain
I spent 2 hours out there this morning. I got the old alternator off, and the new one connected to the cables. I didn't have the heart to bolt the thing up though; it was raining, and my Liillliputian garage means my lower half was laying on the ground, in the rain, soaked & cold. While that treacherous, faithless swain of a car sat in the nice dry garage. Dang. I finally gave up and went inside to warm my poor carcass in the shower.
Man I'd pay cash money for 2 rain-free hours so I could have a driveable car again. G-D.

Low 90s here sewing up after the tb/wp. I think I'll keep my heat vs. your rain.
However, the fender pads someone had generously lent me would actually burn my hands or arms if I touched them.

Rained all day today with wet snow also; +20C yesterday down to a high of 4C today and I had to finish the deck railing.
Wish I only had an alternator to R&R.............at least I got brownie points for later!

Three Wheelin'
Beautiful weekend. But I have a question that begs to be asked.
Why didn't you stick the *** end of the shark outside of the garage so that you could work inside where it was dry? I love my cars as much as you do but remember that in every sharks life, a little rain must fall.

You haven't seen my garage, have you, Dave? Single space, PLUS stuff. Lots of stuff. And not enough room to put up a bigger garage... if I put the car in nose first and back it partway out, I'm still having to skinny past the stuff on the sides, less room to work, less light...
Which is why I'm looking for a separate piece of real estate close enough to drive to that I can put up a polebarn on. With luck, I'll have something cool to show off the next time we have a 'post your dream garage' thread...

Hi get a tarp and make a lean too move out the stuff thats in the way and cover it with the tarp, and finish your car it should only take about 10 mins to put the alternator back on if the big alt bolt is hitting the fans then it is very easy to remove the 3 bolts that hold the P/S pump mount to the engine then you will have an easier time of installing the big bolt , if your working on the floor you can use a floor jack to lift the alt/P/S assembly into place a few blocks of wood might help
