Tail light harness al F'd up! PO's suck!
Yesterday I was washing the car and noticed the inner-most left tail light was out. So today on the way home from work I stopped at the auto parts store, opened up the right one (fortuitously) and grabbed the bulb to match up. Got the new bulb and went to install in the left... WTF? Bulb won't go in. On the right side it's a dual fillament bulb - one for driving, one for stop. The socket has also has the dual electrical contacs in the base. The left socket only has one contact in the base. Everything else looks the same. Just this socket is wrong.
The wiring looks the same, the lens looks the same, but this socket is different. Upon closer inspection the left light works when I hit the brakes, but has no driving lights. This is weird!
I think I have a harness from a different vehicle. Does anyone have a left harness from an S4 or later car that they would sell or loan me?

It sounds to me that you might have one Euro/ROW and one US harness. Euro cars had the fog light where the inner most bulb is located. US cars use that socket for the tail light.

I was just looking at it again, and I couldn't find a part number on the harness itself to reference with PET, but I suspect you are correct nicole. Anyone with a Euro want to trade a Euro harness for their US harness? PLEASE!

Well 928 Intl list them new for $125 new and used for $80. Just hoping that someone either wants to trade or has an extra set of lights that they'd be willing to strip off the harness for a nominal fee.

I would think that if you buy a used tail light, it will probably have the harness attached - no? Maybe you could then turn around and sell the lighlt without the harness, because in most cases of light replacement, the harness is not needed.

Sure does sound like Euro harness. One possibility is to just rewire it - Euro harnesses have a dual filament bulb in the outer lower for the dual marker light and foglight - USA cars have just a single marker here - you could swap those 2 sockets - You'd have to link to the mid lower marker - which is a single filament marker on both Euro/USA....
I wonder why the bulb monitor didn't constantly warn you of this missing bulb though.... Uh Oh.... what comes next...
