If it does hit $5 - $6 per gallon I might buy that moped. I live 5 miles from work, I really do not need to take the 928. Temp gauge doesn't even move before I get there.

I'm jealous.... I live 21 miles one way from my office! Keep wanting to start working outta the house! I'd still have to drive a bit since I travel in four counties, probably 4 out of 5 days a week depending upon my appointments. It can suck.... literally... all my gas up!! I am selling my 325 daily driver(22-25mpg-but premium), cause I have to rearrange my auto line up to accomodate my 16 yr old daughter by years end. I will probably make sure the next two daily drivers take regular, not premium & that they get at least 20+mpg. Not sure about the blue Shark, but the gold one gets around 18 mpg around town.... better than alot of cars I've owned!

Guys,
It's already 4$/Gallon here in Canada, by the end of the week it should be close 4.80 for Premium. We are a Net Exporter of oil yet we get screwed at the pumps, partly taxes, partly "other" countries who are very thirsty!!
Money, it's only paper!

I put 60$ in last weekend, had a Quarter in there and I didin't hit Full. I imagine it will be at least 80$ to completely fill her up. Fuel prices will continue to rise, too much consumption, too much world tension. It's all supply and demand, the US needs lots of oil, they are the largest oil consumer in the world, and have to Import the stuff. Hey but don't worry we are a Net Exporter and still have to pay more than the States. Grin and bear it!

I have the Dodge Dakota Quad cab with 360 cubic inch (5.9L) motor I use to commute. With an average of 9.9 miles to the gallon and my 13 mile commute that takes about 1 hour each way without issues I think the Shark may be used more than before. Never liked taking it into NYC area but I am currently averaging $350 per month just to commute at $2.25 a gallon. I have no interest in spending over $600 a month on gas not including my other cars.

May be time to buy a Hybrid.

The price of keeping my 928 in tip-top shape is limiting my ability to buy gas for it!

Fortunately, I don't have to drive much, so gasoline cost doesn't even appear on my radar screen -- except maybe when I plan a long trip or so. I'm sure glad we dohn't have European gas prices.

My 928 gets the best gas mileage of the running vehicles I am have.
Of course it's not hard to beat 78 Chevy Blazer (9-12mpg - with the beer can secondaries) or the 79 GMC Jimmy (8-10mpg, same carb, lifted, 35x12.50x15's tires).

Most likely I will drive my 928(s) until the price becomes a real impact to me - over $5.00 gal. Maybe then I'll replace the gas tank on the '77 924 and start driving that.

Malcolm

Do you have the "Evil" oil companies drilling near you? I love it, as world oil prices go up, so does the value of my stocks. It's all good for an economy that runs off of oil and gas. Good times for Alberta. Screw the hybrid car, 928 all the way

Fuel in America is cheap. I'm happy. I think the days of big SUV's and fat oldsmobiles sucking down a gallon every 10 miles, are numbered and all I have to say is YEAH BABY!!!!!

So, I guess the days of 27 cent a gallon gas are gone forever? It wasn't that long ago - 1972.
