Hi,
This is an odd question and I am ready for some jokes, but:
I have a small cam tower leak on my 84S USA passenger side. I've retorqued some bolts but no real improvement. No oil makes it to the ground but the oil does get cooked on the exhaust manifold and smells bad. The HVAC intake is right there.
My question is:
Is there an oil brand that doesn't smell when burned? I don't want it to smell like flowers but odorless would be nice.

Just dump some cinnomen, clove, almond, Garlic if you prefer...
C'mon Mac, you know what you gotta do.
Besides that oil is going to burn into -stain- any aluminum after a bit.

Dave...........there are oils out there that do as you want; my sons 2 stroke dirt bike runs on gas mixed with 'strawberry' synthetic oil and it does smell 'fruity'.

Gotta side with John here; replace the gaskets clean the engine and drive with confidence. After all its a Porsche.

I think it'll take me more time than that to fix. I'm due for oil change and just curious if one kind or another has less smell.

Cam tower R&R on a 16V is a bitch. Dave, check with 928Motorsports, they have an allen key that's just right for that PITA job.

I reccomend fondue oil for an appetizing bouquet, although people will be asking you to share your french fries at stop lights.

I just didn't know for sure that every kind of motor oil would stink when burned. I knew most probably do but I thought there might be an exception. I don't mind the jokes, at least you guys are reading the post.

If you want a truly remarkable smell, try castor oil. It will motivate you to just buckle down and fix the problem...

Crap! Who was it that made those adjustable cam gears for the 16v? If I'm right there was a descriptive teardown dis-assembly with it...archives?

things up under a sHARk.
BTW/FWIW
I think the Pass. side is the harder of the two sides. Some recommend doing both sides at the
same time but then again the old saw; "if it ain't broke..." comes to mind.
