Default GT cams for sale (85 to 86.5 modified)

The cams for sale are actually modified 85 to 86.5 cams, the mod has been done. The cam profiles are identical to the GT cams except the Lobe separation angle is 8 degrees wider due to the intake valve opening and closing 8 degrees later. The lobes are in excellent used condition as are the cam gears. I have decided to sell these and hold onto my GT heads and ported GT intake manifold.

The wider separation angle results in more manifold vacuum and as such will have a steadier idle. These cams should work well in auto cars. These cams are not regrinds. The price is $1100 plus any costs such as packaging and postage. I package all my cams very well in pvc tubing. This prevents them snapping, it is also light packaging. Please pm me if you are interested.

who did the mods for you and what did they do to them to make that bearing area equal to the S4
curious!

I can certainly vouch for them working. im still at 320rwhp and my car has 4 race seasons on it.
several dyno runs with the 85 cams on an S4 engine.(and a set of headers) pretty simple bolt on HP!

Hi Mark thanks for your comments, I had them modified in Australia, it is roughly a $400 job.

Hi Greg
when you say these are modified cam's what do you mean? will these cams fit and work on any S4 or GT engine or are they for 85-86 models? I have a 1990 928GT and I want to change the cams due to pitting will these work for me? will there be any noticable difference in my cars performance or will it behave like a regular GT with your cams fitted?

Regards

Hi Pasa these are now only suitable for S4, GT and GTS, the modification has nothing to do with the lobes. They now wont fit the early engine. So they are perfect for you car. This is what Mark Kibort did and you can read his post.

I have had a few enquires so far with one buyer saying he is definately interested and wants them. I have one rule for this, first in first served. I will over the weekend take some photos for that buyer and I can also post them here if you like too.

Hope this clarifies things for you.

Cheers Greg

Yes that is what it looks like, except the machining on the non thrust side of the collar isn't tapered. So did you have two cams modified?

the closer one is the stock S4 cam, the middle one (shiney) is the modified one. they put a collar on the cam, butting up to the cam lob. and then they machined it to shape.
no welding on the cam, but those two pieces that were welded together to cup the cam with the two halves
