Default A "MUST HAVE" for your glove compartment - AAA Towing Guidelines

While doing a websearch to help out a buddy getting ready to tow dolly a Bimmer...I came upon an interesting site...it is the Internal AAA Guide for their towing companies.

Here is a link to the page where you can actually download and printout the PDF guide to Porsche towing. I added it to the glove compartments of both my cars....JUST IN CASE!

You can't change a flat tire on a CGT without taking it to a Porsche dealer.... interesting.

You need to check the VW / Audi guidelines.

AMEN...But - kinda like getting an alignment...even after telling them not to lift it, they may want to disagree with you. Just a tad bit of documentation I found interesting.

As to the CGT...yep - a local PCA'er just got one. you shoud see the "special tools"...err ....umm...$pecial tools. Including some ~2" high wooden blocks that you have to drive the car up on to even BEGIN to think about jacking it. They were something like $900/pair!

Unfortunately this link is very relevant to me at this time.

So pre S4's have a point on the front the flat deck can latch on to; in order to winch up, or can just the rear eye bolt be used??

Yes, there is a threaded fitting on the front of the car for installing that towing eye bolt. Unfortunately, the early models like yours have an aluminum plug installed to protect the threads, but over time it becomes fused to the threaded collar and usually must be drilled out to remove it.

Have the tow hooks attached to a structural member on the front suspension to have the car pulled onto the flatbed.

Thanks.

I'll have them look for the plugs otherwise as per your note.

Thanks Randy!
