Most gallons of gas at a fill-up?

I know this topic may be a bit trivial... That said, what's the most gallons of gas you've ever gotten during a fill-up on your 928? (i.e. How low have you let the tank get before finding a station)
A usual fill-up for me is generally 17-18 gallons. Today, I fit 19.95 gallons.
I think that's the lowest she's ever gotten.

Simple! I checked out how much I can trust my distance remaining display after I calibrated my tank gauge. I drove it to work and down to 3 Miles distance to go!!!
When I stopped at the final traffic light prior to the gas station, the engine started to hesitate but was fine as soon as I was rolling. Made it to the gas station without problem and filled 'er up with 21.6 Gallons.
I would call that a very accurate estimate by the computer. It really showed usable fuel :-)

I've put 21.5 gallons in mine on one occasion, after draining and pulling the tank, then putting one gallon back in to get to the gas station. Usually I stop for gas when the fuel light comes on, and put in ~20 gallons.

Was doing some reading in the WSM and IIRC the fuel capacity is 22.5 gal w 2.1 reserve. I have know idea what the lines can hold or if they are even included in that figure so Sharkskin you were close. I am on "E" now and I kinda wanna see when my light comes on. My odo was brokie before I got the car so Fishey and I have guessed around 110K or so. I have no way right now to figure out the actual milage per tank
.
Just another project before SITM.
Should I move into the light?

The most I have ever run my 928 is 375 miles before my reserve light came on. Filled the car with fuel a few miles later and took a little over 20 gallons. It worked out to about 18.5 miles a gallon on that run. And I do a mix of inner city traffic and highway driving. It seems to be pretty consistant as far as gas mileage is concerned.

"CALL MILEAGE" means that you should change the display to show the mileage remaining. If you do that, you don't get any more warnings.

I have never been low enough for my fuel light to come on in my 86.5.! I guess that habit comes from living in the Arizona Desert for a few years, and coupled with the fact that my fuel gage in the 928 never goes completely to the top but rather just above 3/4 when it's comepletely full. Last year before SITM i removed the sender and checked to see if the low fuel indicator would come if i was infact low on fuel, and it worked fine. I think the needle has slipped on the shaft, but it's been that way ever since i have owned it.

On our way down to Sharks in Da Hood..from Track Attack last year...Adam B ran his 88 S4 so far on E...that I think he got a hair over 22 gallons in the tank..most I have ever personally seen.
I have run the GT down to empty to the point were the engine died as I rolled into the gas pumps..haha...but I never really fill tank..usually $20 to $30 a time...I figure with the way prices go up...down and back up again..I'm just buying in at what are hopefully lower average prices..(haha)![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

I'm curious if all years have the same spacing between the tick marks on the fuel gauge.
The fuel gauge in my '85 is not grachically linear. The full, 3/4, and 1/2 are spaced evenly. Then space between 1/4 and empty are much closer together making it very hard to tell how much gas is left (not that fuel gauges are ever accurate). I assumed this was designed to encourage people to get a fill up when the 1/4 was reached.
But then, maybe it's more accurate than other makes because every car I have ever had before seem to get more mileage from the top half of the gauge (i.e., between full and 1/2) anyway.
Tick marks evenly spaced? Do you folks just go by the trip OD?
