Default GTS: Do you smell anything?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...27656932QQrdZ1

I asked for pictures too (several others asked). Response was "See answer below" there was no below. But I think he means the crap about camera being broke and pics on Tuesday, anybody remember Wimpy: "I gladly pay ou Tuesday for a hamberger today" ? Also doesn't have work order on the "new" engine.

415mb (dealer) started bidding at 35K, two others over him. I wouldn't think a reseller would bid 35.

Not that I have it to bid, but I certainly wouldn't bid, especially up that high without a PPI, let alone without any pictures whatsoever! Looks like there are gamblers in places other than Las Vegas...

Maybe phantom is just that much of newby and didn't think about pic BEFORE listing it and now can't get add them or email them. I've have complained x times before about lousy, dark, weird and dupe pictures. How do these people find their way home at night? I don't want to accuse 417mb of anything, but I don't believe a dealer would pay $35K even if he knew the car. But i have seen him bidding high on other GTSs recently. Don't know what is going on.

I sent a reply to an e-mail I received from the seller (about his broken camera). My reply bounced.

The last ever GTS engine which Porsche produced is in England. Jay Kempf and others must have seen it on a wooden palet sitting at the factory during Euro 928 in 2002. That engine was then sent to England, where Porsche installed in a 1995 GTS 5spd instead of the re-built unit which they messed up through lack of knowledge. Subsequently, the GTS burned to the ground, but the engine and the rest of the running gear were saved. So what this guy is saying in his eBay listing is cr*p...

This is no surprise.."Michael Wilhoit 417mb if anyone cares" since he recently sold a GTS for about $70,000 . He sees value where others overlook it and credits a 928 with saving his life ,major head on crash ! Fact is he simply does a better job representing ,presenting and selling the 928 than most.

.."Michael Wilhoit 417mb if anyone cares" since he recently sold a GTS for about $70,000
What explains the huge gap in value between GTS and GT variants? No doubt GTS is most desirable but beyond the collectible value (I seriously doubt Wilhoit sells a dozen low mileage GTS to collectors), what's the deal? Porsche fans that can't deal with Cayenne as a perfectly good, fast, comfortable ride? I still can't put aside the Ferrari 456 comparaison, 70K gets you a low mileage, well maintained 1995-97 456.

Regards,
Chris

I think it is the smaller numbers (IIRC only 60 or so '95 cars shipped to US, so for intents the model ended in '94) and the cashe of the last model for some buyers; I mean it IS THE END OF THE LINE. The GTS does have 340/362 hp/torque which is a jump over the GT. For some buyers, no matter how mint a car is, if there is anything newer, they will pay the premium for that. Marketing trickles down.

The seller has added pictures of interior and exterior. He says the car has 27k miles, but there is some unusual wear in the inteiror. Look at the console switches, the console being "rolled up" on the edges, and also in the shot through the hatch you can see wear on the hatch panel (how do you wear this???). There is also some unusual "glossiness" on some of the interior parts.

It just looks weird for a high priced loe mileage car. Anybody else notice this? Anybody had a look at this car?
