Default 79 s euro?

the last owner of my 79 said it's an s model? i thought we did nto have "s" till 80-something model years?

The S model did not come out until 1980. Check your engine number. Your should be m28/01. A 5spd Euro S would be m28/11.

i looked for the number, too much stuff in the way and i just got all cleaned up from doing the rear brakes. I will look at it again later this afternoon. after we get back from house shopping.

If it's a Euro, it's not an 'S' model. My original engine is M28/01.

The S were available from September 1979, as 1980 model year.
VIN are 92AO82XXXX versus 92AO80XXXX for regular non-S.

Here in Europe(or in Norway at least), a cars "year" is referring to the year of registration(that is the year the government uses to deuce taxes). So it is common that a 1980 "model" may be referred to as a 1979 here.

Federalized cars are the same way, but usually end up later. An 84 imported in 85 is usually federalized as an 85. If this car was an early 80 and shipped to the US in 79, it could've been federalized as a 79.
