TT: Cup 2's would look great on an OB I think. I thought I lucked out finding a set of real cup 2's with 8x17 et70 front (great front offset and wide enough for a 245 tire) and 9x17 et55 rears that will take a 255 or 265 tire.
What I am thinking now is that having all 4 wheels the same would be the ultimate street set up; no understeer. And a 9x17 et 70 would fit great and not screw up the front end feel that the normal 928 front wheels have. Plus that wheel did come on the 928 GTS and is sort of keeping it original in a way.

I see a lot of discussion about heavier wheels -- but a lower profile tire will be lighter right? Not sure how much it would offset the wheel weight in your case Brian, but it's got to be a pound or two per tire.

well, its both . the actual mass and the distribution of the weight.
with my kinesis, they weight 19 to 20lbs front to rear tires are 24lbs to near 30lbs each, if we are talking a steel belted Toyo. (the old hoosiers S03s were close to 24, but these days they are heavier)
so, outer weight is 24-28lbs and rim is 19-20. better to gain weight on the rim and take it off the tire!
again, each 5lbs on the wheel is worth 7lbs as if it was in the car, and 10lbs if it was on the tire. the difference of a hoosier vs a toyo is like 32lbs in the car, or near 3.2HP

The topic is valid if you are the kind or person who is counting improvement in increments of 5 pounds of sprung weight here or there and are considering an upgrade anyway... may as well get something that looks good, is lighter and hopefully fits the budget...
