Default Wear limit for conrod piston pin bushing??

Can't find reference for this anywhere.

Does anyone know what the wear limit is for the piston pin bushings on the connecting rods? I mean, how much play can there be with the pin? Does it have to be tight, slightly loose ok, or what... I would think there's gotta be a little bit of play for oil to circulate between the surfaces, but I'm not sure. I understand these are not common to replace. But since I'm rebuilding and its already apart....

The pictured rods show just a bit of wear on the bushings, and the pins have an ever so *slight* amount of play in them.

BTW, these are the GTS piston pins on early 87 (5,0L) rods.

Per the Tech-spec booklet, radial play for con-rod bushing to piston pin is 0.018mm to 0.032mm.

I should note that's for all 32v motors, '85 to '95.

I assume that would be measured with the pins installed as shown in the bottom pic....centered in the rod.....then given a wiggle with the caliper on the end of them ?

I'd say anchor the rod in a vise, set a dial indicator with a mag base on the vise, and measure the radial play as close as possible to where the pin meets the bushing(to reduce error from angular movement). Measure at several spots around the circumference of the bushing, always with the indicator moving perpendicular to the pin centerline.

Don't know but for most of my cars before I have measured the pin outside diameter and bush inside diameter and the difference is what is important these figures are usualy in the manuals
