Thanks for taking the time to do this & to send me these files, Tom!

Here's a link to download the scans in one .pdf document if anyone else wants it.

After reading this excerpt from the WM, there appears to be a specific 'tool' needed to get to the diagnosis mode:
The contact bridge 9293 is required to start diagnosis.
The contact bridge 9293 must be plugged into the diagnosis-plug
connector in the vehicle for this.
Can anyone elaborate on what 9293 is? Is it simply a jumper or more than that?

From the '89 diagnostic cluster pdf on the Morehouse CD's, there's an extra page inserted near the front, stating:

EDITORS NOTE:
THE SPECIAL TOOL 9293 REQUIRED TO DO THESE TESTS IS VERY
DIFFICULT TO OBTAIN. I HAVE IT FROM A KNOWLEDGABLE
SOURCE THAT THIS TOOL JUST PROVIDES A JUMPER FROM PIN
13 TO PIN 5 OF THE CONNECTOR.

I figured that a "contact bridge" may simply be a bridge.
So....a jumper between 13 & 5 huh?
I have to admit that I'm a little reluctant to run out there and try this though . Considering that I'm still on my original LH, the electrical$ in this car scare the crap out of me.

This one has been officially blessed by John Speake, though, so relax.

There's also the digi-dash self diagnostics which are triggered by shorting pins 5 and 13 on the diagnostic connector. There's a full PDF document of these functions in Jim Moorehouse's CD-ROM of Tech Info.

I have done this quite a few times. It is pretty cool. No risk with the documented views. There are, however, a few other views that are undocumented... I went into K mode and tried some settings while the car was idling and it died Probably something to do with EZK ignition test?

Did you know:
That you can use a little rubber cement and attach a dime to the face of the kickdown switch behind the Go peddle for a slightly quicker response?

That the switch contacts in the OB seat switches and the window, sunroof and rear wiper switches are easily rehabbed by using a knife blade to pry the face plate off to access the contacts for an easy rubber eraser cleaning? The switch just snaps back together and this process can cure stubborn or intermittent operation.

That a good percentage of us are missing the cheap ($3?) plastic cover that clips on above a multi-pin connector where our positive battery attachment is mounted on the starboard side high up inside the engine compartment that protects a thousand dollar part from failing due to water running down the fender and hood when it rains?

On a side note, I just adjusted my clutch assist a bit. Tighten the spring w/ the wing nut to make it easier, and vice-versa. How sweet is that? It even has detents to hold the position!

My 928 is one of the most satisfying machines I have ever known.

Can this be supported with any type of documentation? I am too curious.

Did you know that the best way to clean under our tight to the floor seats is to open the doors and hatch and have at it with an electric lawn-leaf blower? Cleans out my whole interior in about two minutes with no bending into convoluted positions.

I thhink the word "Push" is perhaps a bit of an underestimate. IIRC it's in the drivers manual. Tow at about 50kmh. I don't know anyone who can run that fast let alone push a 928 at the same time.

Did you know the 928 and the original (can't speak for newer) body style Boxter share the same mounting point spacing?

98 Boxter I put a water pump in today.

Those are my lift bars I had made for my 928 locating pins fit perfectly in the boxter holes. Who knew?
