Were you the guy who won the prize for the longest drive in 2002 for driving down from Finland?
That was a link to the foto because I was the guy who had his camera stolen the next day with 300 Porsche factory fotos in it
Not exactly no but close. My cousin actually won and collected it. We where there with his Petrol Blue Metallic '78 5sp. I didn't have GTS back then yet. Even if I did it wouldn't have been there as previous owner put in it into garage few months before 2002 meeting because of engine problems. Relative won longest drive prize even though some of the Sweds, Norwegian or Spanish guy might actually have driven longer. We cheated and took the ferry from Helsinki to Travemunde. Too bad about the camera. They can be replaced but those pictures are impossible to replicate.

HTML Code:
It pains me when it comes to this. I made him an offer he couldn't refuse...
somehow sounds like clint eastwood saying "do you feel lucky"

must make it clear I am not being combative, I am never lucky

Exactly, the insurance paid for the camera but I would very gladly have given the thief the insurance money for return of the pictures.
Probably not 928 relevant but I am sad that I no longer have the picture of the 7 959s in the service shop, first time and I suppose the last time I wîll ever see so many of these in one place; I think they only built 160? One was the Dakar rally car

These are short-block engines, boys. There are no heads or cams.

BTW -
The lobes themselves are the same, but the lobe separation is greater with the 85/86's, with the intake being advanced 8 degrees. As a result, there's less overlap
... this means the 85/86 cams are better for supercharging. Valve overlap is undesireable when under boost.

Wow, that would be an exact replacement in my early 86 also, wouldn't it?

That sure would be something to have a NEW engine in a 20 year old car.... hmmm

The problem is still that a shortblock from those years can be found, taken apart, rebuilt (or nikasiled with new pistons) and the crank drilled, new seals, and maybe find some money for headwork, for less then these will sell for.

If one can do the work oneself.

...and doesn't want to actually drive the car for a couple years, or think about the money value of time.

Thumbs down

(QUOTE)
Just to clarify for you, I'm obligated to protect the interests of our Sponsors first, then our Members. That puts you at the bottom of the list
.(so nice to know were 98% OF YOUR MEMBERS LIST!!!>>>tommytomaso)

Just 'cause I'm a Moderator doesn't mean you can attack me with impunity when you disagree with that position. (true he did go off on you a bit>>>tommytomaso)

Take a month off while you find a buyer for your engines.

Well if thats not a slippery road,..need sponsor to do the job you do here(and its done very well here)....but with out the reg, members this is just another retail site...being from a retail industry thats compleatly changed becase of the internet( anyone shop for diamonds online lately?), i know first hand that you have to roll with the punches.....my original out look on this site was that it was born with the love of porsches and to keep them alive and thier owners happy. If ideas come up on how to keep the costs down, DO NOT KICK THEM OUT>>> they are the little catalist that keep those of us that love our cars even though we do not have deep pockets, too keep our cars and our passion running. and the real reason we visit here so regularly (and ,yes why you have such good sponsors) this gives me the feeling like finding a great new restraunt only to see a roach crawl out the front door...
the foods great...but is thier bugs in the works?

I was bit surprised by the 'sponsor 1st' line myself. I love the Big 5 or however many there are now but I would guess they wouldn't be sponsoring if it weren't for the members.
I guess if that is the way it's viewed by JD I would have rather not known.

What came 1st, the member or the sponsor?

FWIW Sniper must have been having a really bad day. He didn't leave RV much choice.

This is made even stranger by the presumption that I had a markup in there or I was trying to sell those engines. If you look at my post - it was informative only. I was just reporting that there are 7 new engines available and what Porsche thinks they are worth.

I do not have them, I am not selling them. I had not marked them up. Again - the post was just for information purposes to the Forum.

Then it's especially unfortunate that things turned out like they did... seems no sponsor's toes were being stepped on after all. Sniper has expressed his distaste for anything on the web that's not free, obviously that's a hot button for him. Too bad he lost his cool, as Jim said he didn't leave Randy much choice.
