Manual vs Auto, Wheel Hop Poll
I have had 1 S4 auto and have 4 GT's. The auto didn't have any wheel hop and all of the manuals have. Most the people I know who have manuals have wheel hop also, how about you auto guys.

It took a while for me to get my 87AT to spin the wheels..(about 302 ft/lbs of rw torque 
) and no it didn't hop (open diff)..
My GT hops like crazy....
And my old 84 5sp open diff...hopped a bit..but not as bad as the GT....

None on the '88 auto S4 and none on the '80 5-sp: while the '80 lacks the S4 power, it somewhat compensates with the torque multiplication of shorter 2.73 rear gears.
Generally attribute the stable rear to good dampening by the Konis.

This is reassuring as it looks like if I install the LSD I have sitting on the floor into my 89 S4 auto, I shouldn't have wheel hop. My current open diff doesn't hop.
