Default First Fitment of Aluminum intake tubes. (pics)

I'm wrapping up my engine bay restoration. The original plastic intake tubes were shot. I've never seen any non supercharged/turbocharged engines with other than plastic/rubber tubes. I thought it would be cool to have some made of aluminum. A family member that is a metalworker made these for me. The is the first test fitment, and will have to be refined to get it perfect. The angle of the bend needs to come back a few more degrees and they will need to be a couple inches shorter, then I think they will be ok. My fuel pressure gauge was in the way, so I took it off. I will just have a 90 degree connector made so it won't intrude. I don't have my 45 degree intake boots in yet, so that's why the tubes aren't connected at the front of the engine bay. I'm not sure if I want to put a hole in the bottom for the breather holes of the timing belt covers, can I just plug the holes? I would to get someone's input on this! I'm debating on whether to powdercoat them or not. I thought the black chrome may look nice, and would also be much easier to clean. Anyway, I wanted to see what you guys think. The hood was blocking the light, so the pictures aren't that bright, I need to take some during the day. Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated.

Damn NICE I'd like to have one to replace my rubber hose set-up to the K&N. Where did you get the tubing? Yes you can cover the t-belt cover holes. Very clean looking

Tis' a clean machine.
Did you powdercoat the box and tubes?
I have a spare set and haven't decided on nickle plate or powdercoat.
And then there's that strut....
Did you do anything to the oil fill can or is it "just" polished?

Looks pretty sharp. I wouldn't plug the holes in the TB cover if I were you. Probably better to keep air moving through there.

Thanks for the comments!
The intake runners, center piece with porsche emblem, oil fill can, water bridge, fuel lines, and lots of other misc parts have all been powdercoated. The intake tubes are polished but I have a polishing machine and will go over them to make them nice and shiny (if I don't powdercoat). I'm not familiar with the nickle plate, but the powder coat is durable and easy to clean. I had debated polishing the parts i've had powdercoated, but I didn't want to mess with the upkeep to keep them looking good.

Thats it!! I am throwing away all the pictures of my engine and never opening my hood again!!!!!!!

Holy Sh#*t, that engine has got to be the cleanest one I've ever seen on any car. You should take that to the Sharktoberfest meet and have people vote on best engine bay.

Very Nice! I had been thinking of CF tubes for quite a while BUT heres the problem. I have a tough time getting the plastic ones on and off and they bend and squish.

And since i did the motor mounts the engine sits even higher. I have a euro and don't know if they are slightly different but even if i removed the engine brace to install a rigid tube i don't think i could re-install it.

But those are the best looking intakes.
