Mark,
163 West Sterling Pond Circle, The Woodlands, TX 77382.
I plan on starting around 8, but feel free to stop by any time - I'll have 1 or 2 bottles of beer floating around, and pizza for lunch.
Look forward to meeting you.

Sorry, I don't refrain from asking dumb questions. You're doing a 1980. I see all the later model parts in your list. I'm assuming your hardware has been updated to round tooth gears, newer tensioner and tensioner arm during a previous TB job, right?

Bill,
Sorry for the confusion - just updated my sig. Also, thanks for checking the list - I welcome your expertise.
Viribus, if the cam drive gears are worn I guess I'll have to order new ones and then patch her up later (I am assuming they can be changed with the cams in situ) - is it worth buying them at $100 each to be on the safe side.
I think I'll order accessory belts tomorrow so that we can replace them also.
Anything else?
Thanks all!

I'll try to make it. Don't know if I can be of help, but I've done the belt once before.
I think you should think seriously about changing the cam gears. If you don't, you probably won't have a problem until your next t-belt, but it's just insurance, and take it from one who knows about TBF, it's cheaper to do it now. Your call.
BTW: I have a flywheel lock and tension tool.

Jon,
Youu are more than welcome - I have never done one before, but could probably do it relatively easily (but very slowly) from all the write-ups. But thats not the point - I think its great to get everyone together for a few beers and to learn from the experts.

As far as the cam gears go, I think they can be changed w/o pulling the valve covers, but I don't know. I've never done a 32ver. You have to be alought more careful on the 32v car than on the 16s.
You could get a mirror and a flashlight, pull one of the covers, and see if you see silver underneath the belt. If so, then you'll need to cam gears. Probably oil pump gear too. The largest amount of stress is on the oil pump gear, so it should be the one to go first. My car needed the oil pump, but not the cams. Course my car had a aluminum oil pump gear. The later style is steel, it may not wear out even if the cams are worn out.
In any case, I just wanted you to be aware this may not be a one weekend job.

Viribus,
Thanks - I'll see if I can take a look. I may have sourced a pair of gears from an 85/86 from a very kind gentleman - I'll probably have them on hand if they are needed. In the meantime, I'll see if I can find out the process for removal and all that entails.
No big deal if the car has to be left up on stands - I have a truck to do my running around in.
Cheers,
Ken
