Default Yoko's or BFG's?

Looking at new tires soon enough and came up with two choices:

Yoko AVS ES100
or
BFGoodrich g-Force Sport

Yoko's end up at about $70 more in the end. Checking out tirerack's reviews doesn't help because most of the people writing in don't know anything anyway. So anyone used either or both?

Curt I am a yoko fan but have heard good things about the BFG. for 70 less each, go cheaper. For 70 total less, personally I woud go yoko but again, tossup IMHO.

The BFG's are $70 less total

$23 less each front and $11 less each rear.

I USED to be a big fan of the Yokes...But I am finding them very noisy starting at about 50% tread wear....and they seem to start tramlining at about the same wear.

Check out the Fuzions. Might be even less then the BFG's. So far so good with mine.

Fuzion's are the same price as the BFG's.

How 'bout between the BFG's and the Fuzion's also?

I just installed a rear set of Yokohama AVS ES100 - 275/35-18. Real happy with 'em so far.

When I asked and searched for advice on the BFGs I got all positive responses. Andrew Olson and somebody else on here have them. The Yokos were a little above 50/50 with a lot of the negatives being from former Yoko lovers. I wonder if Yoko changed the compound at some point and turned off their customers.

I've been really, really happy with my Avon Tech M500's. Tirerack has those as well, I imagine the same sizes still available. They were less than Yoko's or BFGs.

Others have had lots of luck with some of the Korean manufacturers, I wouldn't limit yourself to the big names.

You just have to wear the Yokos down a little further, then they are fine.

The Yokos are pretty inexpensive. I run them. Are these BFG's W-rated (168 MPH)? I thought the Yokos were the cheapest W-rated that isn't complete junk. They been fine for open road racing. If the BFGs are W-rated I will try a set this year. My Yokos are down to the wear bars.

Edit: I can't find these tires at Tirerack.com. I can't believe they are that much cheaper than the Yokos which run $85 front and $98 rear.

Edit 2: OK, I found them, but they don't show up when I configure for stock 89 S4 wheels.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....=g-Force+Sport

Final edit: OK, I looked over what is offered. They don't have the right rear tire size for my stock 89 rims (245/45-16) and the only correct front (225/50-16) is a Z rated. Even if the sizes were right, the BFG W-rated ones seem to be more expensive than the Yoko ES-100. I'll stick with the Yokos for now.

I've been really, really happy with my Avon Tech M500's.
I'm running the Avon Tech m500's on my E55 and they grip very well. I was about to get the BFgoodrich KDW2's but was turned off by the reported noise levels. I was coming out of Michelin Pilot sports before I purchased the Avon's. I liked the Michelin's but I think the Avon's have better dry grip and have better rim protection than the Michelin's. If I were buying for the 928, I'd go with the BF Goodrich KDW2's.

I was amazed at how good the fuzions were for the price. I've heard the BFGs are similar to the fuzions, so i'd give them my vote. I've driven a car with the yokes and I HATED them.

I am currently running the BFG G-force Sports. I used to run the Yoko's. I only have a few thousand miles on the BFG's, but so far so good. Not too noisy, but then I never ran the Yoko's on the GT. However, on the '82... the Yoko's were noisy and got louder the more you ran them down. Also I found they lost traction very easily until fully warmed up, but even then I found them a bit light on traction. So far, I am very happy with the G-Forces. I was torn between them and the Fuzions but the Fuzion was an unproven tire at the time and not worth the risk in my book. By the way, my driving is spirited street driving. No track or DE's. HTH.
