BRAKES ???????
I have a 1982 928s euro with single piston calipers. Is there a brake upgrade or another caliper set up that does not invole replacing all the suspention to adapt...suggestions ? thanks in advance.

Short answer: no.
Long answer: Those are good brakes. There is a good selection of pads available up through the most aggressive race pads.

brake late, hard and short. dont ride'em
many pro's have raced successfully on those calipers with pagid orange racing pads. (with similar weight cars to ours) sure, it goes through rotors and pads faster than the S4 set up, but, it takes a lot of pads and rotors to equal a S4 set up cost conversion.

David,
I replaced the whole 79 front suspension with an 88 S4 set up. It is pretty staight forward and I needed to replace the ball joints any ways. I also change to bilstien/eibach at all four corners. The rears just replace the rotor with the S4. What a difference!!! I was rear ended twice because of the intense stopping power over the 79 set up.
Or you could go even easier with the GTS upgrade kit and adaptors available from 928gt.com or 928 motorsports.com. Either way youl love the increased stopping power!

If you got rear ended, it surely wasnt because of stopping power!! the following car's driver's brain power is more like it!!
Over the 79 system, for which ive raced once, you get less fade on top speed stops, and a shorter pedal after a few laps due to better heat disapation, and thats all comparing to the 84 system! going to the S4, the 84 was capable of the same stopping power, but was able to deal with heat even better. GTS, more of the same. do you need it? on the street with street tires??? Nah, but they sure look great. I can tell you plenty of times where ive run against either bigger brakes or Ive had smaller brakes, and the limit is not in the brakes, its in the driver and the tires!! (and sure, setup, etc etc)
any time you want to do a brake test with GTS vs '84 brakes as far as stopping distance, power, etc, count me in for the test!!
as far as rear brakes go, well, thats an other story as well. usually with most drivers, less is more, especially if you throw a turn in or two during your stops!
