Agreed.

I know I used the right stuff. And I'm pretty sure I used it where it called for it - followed 30-6c in the manuals.

Both bearings replaced. T.O. bearing is not a "press" fit, but installed properly (finally). Pilot bearing also installed properly, but it cannot be the P.B. otherwise it would be RPM dependant.

I think I'll try Hupp's advice. Plus, like you said I need to look at it. Won't happen until next week earliest as me and the fam-damily are on vacation as of 4pm today!

Interesing video, did you ensure those location dowels were pushed back in flush ? Wonder if one of those is rubbing.

Just a thought.

I had same sound in a Lotus and it was always rear wheel bearings or cv joints worn. The clutch rotates at much higher rpm than the frequency of the noise. Can you reproduce the noise when standing still?

GT/GTS preasure plate doesn't have them. The more I listen to it, the more it sounds like a squeaking noise rather than a grinding noise. The ONE thing I did not check was trueness of the flywheel. I suppose it could be a high spot on the flywheel rubbing against the friction plate? I'm gonna keep wondering about this one for a while until I get in there.

I've really got no idea as to what the sound is, but the video is quite novel! What a great way to put technology to work for you!

Sorry I can't be of any help.
Hmmmm seeeaaaaguuulllll .... YUM. Ever have the most wonderful bbq aroma driving a long road, and later you could swear someone was burning the food? ..... then you look under the hood and find a nice and toasty little rat family?

Rats aren't much of a problem in these parts. We try to send them off to Sacramento or DC.

Almost sounds like tires squeaking over painted concrete.

Well my good friend Lizard agrees with Fred, but I think this here positively rules out the tyre theory.

If the clutch is engaged, the flywheel, clutch disk, pressure plate, and pilot bearing should all be spinning together so there should be no noises. That leaves throwout bearing, guide tube, interference with the bellhousing, pinch collar, torque tube, and tranny. If there is noise only when the car is moving, whether or not the clutch is engaged, that means that is has to be either load related or something not clutch or torque tube related (if not caused by load). It's hard to tell, but it looks/sounds like it's coming from the back of the bellhousing or front of the torque tube, not the front of the bellhousing where the bulk of the clutch is.

BTW, that is a very cool video.

Andrew,
If you get all 4 wheels off the ground w jackstands and put it in gear, you might be able to isolate the noise with a mechanics stethoscope. (insert std dire warnings and precautionary measures, release from legal liability, etc).

I want to echo both these comments Matt. First: Andrew, when this is sorted, please take another clip, this time adding several runs. The one you did, a takeoff at WOT, and a full stop from speed over the camera. With sound.

Second, it sounds like a guide tube problem or a bearing issue. But that should only be the case if you didn't lube any of those items.

Last post before vaca...

I did lube everything, however, I just noticed that it says for 93MY and on, that the guide tube should never be lubed! Oops! It will wait.

Later Dudes!

I finally got to work ont he car tonight. Dropped the lower BH cover (BTW, DR's X-pipe is awesome b/c you don't have to touch the exhaust at all... but I digress) looked up at there it was... one of the guide tube bolts had backed out. I gues I never tightened them down as both were kinda loose - but only one was scraping. You can see inthe picture that the washer is a bit askew. Tightened everything back up and now I have BWAAAHHHH again!

Thanks to everyone who advised me though this endeavor. I owe you all one!
