Rest assured that each bag was about 20-25 pounds, and I removed several bags.
What I have re-installed is about 40 pounds worth of sound reduction mat, and a much better surface to put the thin foam and carpet onto.
The determining factor is that I do want a light car, but I need to hearmyself think, as well as carry cell phone conversations every day. This is a daily driver project that will also heopfully see some constant track duty.
So this was my compromise. Remove all useless weight and return some weight in a very useful manner. If I don't use or need it, it goes.
I hope it all works out. What I learn here I will use on my 89 build (which was what was to be done first anyway). This is my practice car.

My point is that 2 928s is a good number.

Brendan, are you laying down ensolite too? I have about 4 rolls of raamat in mine so far. I havent done the firewall or roof yet. I also stiched a layer into the bottom of my floormats to help out with the road noise. The added weight and ensolite backing keeps the mats firmly inplace.

Rick Suggested gluing the ensolite onto this silver Raamat surface. I have the huge roll of ensolite and the cans of spray glue ready for next weekend!

The ensolite looks really good once applied. I am very happy with th results, especially on the floor. The roll is wide enough to do the floor pans with one seemless piece. Looks great with the floormats and carpet installed or not.

I was hoping for that. I was thinking of just carpeting in areas where there was originally panels. Like the rear area, and the seat area in back, as well as the roof, though there is sharp metal there and my head is soft.
