Any way to rig an interior wiper on the rear glass.
That would clear internal misting on lexan, wouldn't it?
Something plastic and lightweight since it protected from the elements.
Use the external wiper motor to drive the internal wiper.
Just a thought.
88 with leaky rear so rear glass mists at every rainstorm.

I thought about the rear hatch. I went to a poly-carbonate place here in Sandy, and found that it bends well. They said with the slight curve I could just get a big sheet and screw it down onto the frame for the back. That will save me a few pounds. The rear hatch is heavy though.
And when you lighten that area, yes, you change he f/r bias, but indeed you may be ADDINg weight back there - electric steering, pumps for trans coolers, pumps for intercoolers, amps, etc.
Lighter, but still 50/50.

Hi Dr. Nick,
Glad to hear it's working for you! That now makes two in street cars, for some reason I thought you had it in your track car.
As far as lexan blowing out at speed, not if it's installed properly. Many track cars that often see triple digits on track have rear lexan windows including 996 cup cars that do not look different (no visible screws and correct weather stripping) than normal rear glass unless you press on it.
Cheers,
Constantine

greg, the rear wiper isnt that important imo as when you drive the water clears itself. the rear demist can be taken care of via the aircon, if its working. i thought the main problem with lexan was that it would blow out at speed.

I just weighed the rear hatch and glass sans spoiler. On a scale that measures in 0.5 kg increments, it weighed 21.5 kgs in total, as we know the sunroof weighs 6 kgs. So in total I guess with a lexan rear window and no wiper or motor you could save 25 kgs in this area of the car. It is a good area to remove the weight as it is up high.
