If 928GT and other published statistics like Jörg Austen's book were both correct it would mean Porsche should still have 4000 unsold 928's stashed away somewhere. Also they would probably have been bankrupted back in 1978 as they had made well over 5000 928's by the end of that year and only managed to sell 1/5 of them according to 928GT list.
Think I need to list all 928s by VIN which corelates to the correct year of production and put Euros where they belong. For the reasons you state, I cannot/will not use sales numbers as they are inherently flawed for what I am trying to do.

I agree! We must use one particular unique method of identification. That's the VIN, whether an OB or one with a modern post-regulation VIN. ONce the VIN are organized then everything else will fall into place, data-wise. As you go along, the concatenation of data will depend how your SQL is set up, but theoretically we ought to be able to pull up only those Purple OB 928's made for the Saudi market but with RHD because the guy who ordered it in Saudi was an Englishman who later took it back to Merry Olde England and thus required RHD.

Or something like that

Cheers,

Is Chuck ultimately going to put all of this into a database? I didn't quite gather that from the thread, but I think it would be a great idea! I would also be willing to donate any programming/computer "skillz" necessary to get such a thing working.

Chuck, email sent.

Another good idea, IMO is to make a list of good resources to look for cars. I would guess that there are those on the board that as dealers would have access to auction sites and nationwide listings other than autotrader, cars.com and ebay.

OK, just over the past hour I went through Cars.com, Autotrader and ebay and I have documented 9 cars. None of which were on the registry. IcemanG17 Autotrader had a total of 22 cars alone. I can see how this could get to be a bit overwhelming.

Chuck, my hat's off to you for the amazing work that you have done on the Registry site!

Yeah, but do they all have VIN #'s posted? Far as I know Chuck won't post them with out the VIN. The other alternative is to call or e-mail each seller to get the VIN's.

Thanks Shane, that's correct. I will not put anything on my site without the FULL VIN.

Chuck and Shane,

Of the cars that I went through I got 19 w/complete VIN's, images and some details. The only thing that I was not recording was the location, figuring that they were for sale they might be moving anyway. I'll try to go through and enter them in the next several days just to make it easy on ya Chuck

Please include the last known location as I feel it is important with respect to the history of each car. Also please include all the relevant info from where ever you pull the ad. Highlight it, copy it into the registration form. TIA.

Oops! I think I forgot to include "all relevant info" on today's submission. I'll be sure to include it on the next one.

Okay I'll search craigslist for 88's tomorrow! Maybe you can search ebay & autotrader....I'll handle craigslist....that way we don't both submit the same cars? Or do you want me to send the info to you first? There probably won't be that many on craigslist?
