My new '85 928S!
Hey gang,
Just wanted to report back that I am now the proud owner of a very nice 1985 928 S. Bought it on Friday from Heinrick, and am loving it.
Its an auto tranny, gray/white color, looks really nice, runs great. Has a couple of minor issues that I will deal with over time (cracked windshield, warped rotor(s), dent in passenger door, etc, but overall, its in really nice shape and I feel that I got a good deal.
The whole (picture) enchilada here: http://edb.smugmug.com/gallery/1200188
I'm really looking forward to owning this car and getting to know some of the local 928'ers.
Regards,
Ed
ps: going away early tomorrow so may not be able to reply for a bit but couldn't wait any longer to share the good news.

Nice going, Ed. I've seen the car and the exterior is a neat color.
Michael, it's not Can-Can - that is a super-bright lipstick red. Once you see it, you never forget it. The option number for Can-Can is 928.

Congratulations, Ed! This looks like a very clean example.
If the "issues" you mention are all you have to fix on a 928 of that vintage, you are as lucky as a lottery winner... But it's not suprising, considering that your car came from a trusted and caring PO.

Looks pretty nice. Any idea what the maintenance history is? I bouhgt my '85 last summer and am in the middle of a TB/WP job that would have been done a long time ago except I decied to detail some of the parts while I was at it and I got side tracked.
Have a great time with it.

<<Has a couple of minor issues that I will deal with over time (cracked windshield, warped rotor(s)>>
Rotors - EASY job...very unusual for them to warp, tho - consider having them turned first.
Windshield - leave that one to the professionals!
Door dent - do a search for dent removal companies. (Don't bother with the "As seen on TV pops-a-dent" for that one!)
EDIT: Just noticed the H4's - NICE!

Car is at 90k miles. Belt, pump, rollers, tensioner, cam gears, front main seal done at 81k. Service records since new included. Service house since new is reputable and personally known to me. Was owned by a software mogul till 5 years and 500 mies old, then bought by another software pioneer who drove it 15 miles in and back every day, always garaged.

When I bought the car, the front floor carpets had never been pulled .... ever. The car is a testimony that just driving and not attempting to detail/armorall the crap out of everything, preserves the car perfectly. It has never seen armorall. Never buffed, paint is factory fresh, engine bay paint is brand new. All the factory goodies were in the spare well unopened (I had to wrestle those away from Ed) .... all systems function, but I believe the ac relay is not activating. Even had the original radio and amp which i replaced with a good MP3 player deck. Kinda cool, even the seat mechanisms have not been used really since it was one man and he is a featherweight.
