Is there some other reason for this?
Good Point.

I know one guy with a Twin Turbo mustang that got swiped from another guy who was cruising an internet forum and had his stats - one 951 guy here likely had his stolen by someone familiar with his car...
anyways, that sucks man, poor car, but take away a little cash, see what you can do with the car, and get another one - you still have a 90'....

Bummer on the wounded sHARk.
Organ recovery teams await final disposition.
Ed,
fwiw
Why would you, or anyone else for that matter, care?
His car, his plates. When we start paying for his maintenance, gas, insurance,
registration etc... then we have the option of asking that question.

Well, at the risk of getting on a political soap box, I do indeed have the option of asking that question, don't I? After all, this is a forum. I thought I prefaced the question that I wasn't trying to be funny or anything, but this practice has always struck me as odd given that it's on display going down the road, and since his license plate was prominently in the pic, I thought I'd ask a legitimate question. It wasn't an indictment, just an inquiry.

Ed I think people do it for various reasons. It's VERY hard to match a name to a car or other way round .... not if you post it on the eternal net.

I just don't think it hurts to be a little discreet. I don't post my email without encoding it to keep spam bots away. I don't post my phone number or address. I make my plates illegible. I've been traipsing around the internet for what-- 18, 19 years and have learned from other's mistakes. Rule of thumb: don't make it easy for trouble to find you. I don't stay awake at night for fear someone will steal my shark or break into my house -- but I take the time to lock the doors. I don't worry about theives spotting me while driving, but I won't make it easy for the folks who use the internet to search for cars to steal.

That's not that bad at all! Nothing structurally has been hit. This would be a very easy fix.
