Exclamation CARGO COVER - NEW BARGAIN FROM OZ :):)

Hi all

I just bought a Brand new Cargo Cover from Australia made by a 928 owner who owns a leather shop in SIDNEY.

Got it through Ebay but he will deal direct with anyone...Brians Cargo Cover Page

Will post pictures tomorrow but its a great piece of manufacturing..he makes them personally and test fits them on his own 928

He does them in 13 colours and they have all the genuine Porsche fittings (stretchy cables and buttons etc) ...and the best bit .....

PRICE....from OPC here in UK ,,,£485 plus VAT

From Brian ....PRICE = 270 AU dollars + 30 AU dollars postage = £128.71 (including postage and everything)

I just fitted mine...AMAZING quality and everything fitted perfectly
Even got a free keyring in leather with a 928 burned into it

Hope this helps

All the best Brett

That does look like a nice piece. Tell us how it compares to stock Porsche covers?

Hi

Well I can find them at 928 GT BUT not at 928 INT....the 928 GT one is not easy to see but looks a LOT lighter than the one i have,,,from OZ...which is made of pure canvas...
I have no affiliation with Brian in OZ but he IS a 928 owner and I was happy to say thanks for a good product well priced and VERY WELL MADE....by a 928 owner who cares...

I am sorry but too many people appear to me to say dont post anything here if it offends the big 3....well i buy parts from them as well...and as far as I can see ...this is a BETTER ,HIGHER QUALITY PART THAN THEY HAVE .....and cheaper as well...at least to me in the UK...

Apologies if this post offends the big 3....But I was trying to help ordinary 928 owners not help the big 3

If the big 3 are offended ,,I am sure this post will be deleted.....which will settle the matter....

All the best Brett

Hi Chuck

Never had an original so honestly cannot compare it....I have seen others and this SEEMS better than originals....Heavy duty canvas,,,,genuine all porsche fittings ,studs, elastic strings.end fitting.zips etc...it fits perfectly and is hand made..made AND delivered from other side of world in around a week in total
Good price and many colours and Brian seems a really nice guy....when i wanted blue (2 different colour blues) he even offered to send me material samples (free) so I could choose

AND hes a 928 owner lol.....shows he has taste )))))))))))

All the best Brett

The common aftermarket version of the 928 cargo cover is made by HON. Usually runs about $200US. I have one. It is functionally the same as the stock cover and more durable. The stock fabric, which has some elasticity, breaks down and tears with age. Even the cover in my 89, which was largely a garage queen when I bought it, began to tear soon after I got the car. The HON's fittings work OK but are not identical to stock. The one you have found looks nicer than HON. Not sure what acrylic canvas is like but it appears to be closer to the stock fabric than the Sunbrella fabric HON uses.

I contacted them about importing these covers into the US, but they only sell direct. They also say that leather is out of the question, as it would cost $700.

Hi Nicole

Leather....is there any market for leather covers ? and to me $700 sounds cheap for leather...or am I wrong ???
Maybe its just UK prices for leather lol, but i have paid more than that for a leather bomber jacket

Bill - Sunbrella is acrylic canvas.

...I do like the idea of handmade, by a shark owner, that is literally fitted to a shark as QC.

HI anonymousagain

Take my word this is REALLY a good bit of kit as we say here in UK

I will take some pics tomorrow but cannot post them here so will add a link to my 928 PCGB forum for anyone interested

Mine is "Marine Blue" by the way

The "canvas" is quite thick..as an example...if you stabbed it with a standard steak knife I doubt it would go through it....

I had the original one in my car and it faded and started shredding. I took it with me back to Lebanon a few weeks ago and had an uplostery shop replace the material. He reused all my clips and pins and plastic components so it remainted as Porsche original as possible. He used convertible top black canvas as he suggested it will hold better than the stretch coton original when exposed to the sun a lot' won't fade and won't tear ... The shop in scottsdale az asked for $600!! the dealer asked for $500!!!!! I got it redone to specs for $200

I had a dealer quote me $1,080.00 back in New Jersey about 8 years ago. The price was so outrageous I thought I miss heard him and asked again what the price was.
