i agree with jim 'bright fast and loud' - couldnt have put it better myself. go for something that hasnt been done before, there are already plenty of red ones and dark blue ones. if you want that colour you can just buy another shark, but you only get to custom paint once!

I think the best ever is the 94/95 Iris blue, followed by other dark colors like amazon green (which is actually more blue than green). I know, most guys don't like it, but I also think that amethyst is a nice color.
Like... um... very brown???

Anything that is a tight silver grey. It has to be light enough or metalic enough to catch the sun. Many cannot see the many perfect curves in the 928's front fenders. They really are great.

As mentioned atlas grey which is the new term for good ol meteor metallic also called titanium metallic on the cayenne. It looks really classy and shows the curves great. Looks best in the evening.

If it were me, the first thing I would consider is if my car were going to remain stock or not. Sounds like you are doing some mods that will give it an aggressive appeal. Metallics give a richer look while flats tend to give that raw sports car look. I like them both and lord knows you cannot beat a good metallic when the light hits it right. The shades it can give off throughout the day would have you standing there watching it for hours. Black, white and red are standards for flat because they look rich and sporty at the same time. Lot's of fantastic colors out there even if you are staying with the ones applied to the 928 throughout the years.
Given the day and age and what colors seem to never look out of date, there are some I would stay away from. I think the easy way to help decide what color (be it metallic or flat) the car should be, is by looking to other marks or models and determining why the color looks so good on them. Is is racey? Is it rich? Is it classy?
You know what you want your car to say image wise to the world, work from there.
Right now I think a good long lasting color are the greens. They seem to be rare and Porsche made some very darn nice ones. I have seen a few in person and the following that I have seen look like incredible today....all metallics. Lagoon Green, Silver Green Metallic and Crystal Green Metallic.
Blues and reds will always look good too, but you have to watch out for the shade you use. I saw the 1989S4 walkaround video and there is a 928 driving through the streets of Europe in a metallic red. I have tried to look up the color, but just cannot find it. It is something along the lines of a toned down candy apple red. Has to be the deepest classiest color I have ever seen on a 928. It made the car look so damn exotic! So much so, I am considering painting the cabriolet this color when I get to it.
Good luck and show us your choice!

I think I'd like to have an S4 painted "Tangello" - that's an electric orange, a bit brighter than Malibu310's.

tv, is Atlas Grey a dark metallic silver? If so, I agree with you. Silver is boring on a car with boring lines...but on a car with really nice lines, it's timeless & tough to beat, IMO.
Of course I'm partial to black....clean, polished black. But when my car is even slightly dirty, I'm partial to a silver car.
Also, unless your bodywork & paintwork is flawless, stay away from deep colors....silver is more forgiving.

That Iris Blue is beautiful.
There was an Iris Blue GT 5-speed for sale about a year ago out in CA. I wish I had looked into that one a little more. Anyone here buy that one?
