That is kinda nice. You gave a long-ago retired spanner a new life after a little clearancing. Makes me feel better about never throwing away all my old hand-me-down tools.

Just wondering what's the normal service life of the beast.
I think they pretty much run until they ingest a piece of the in-tank pump. (In-tank-pump-piece ingestion seems to be the most common failure mode for fuel pumps on in-tank pump-equipped Sharks.)
1. Be careful when tightening up on the cap bolt/check valve of the fuel pump, it's easy to slip and break off the electrical terminals on the pump (ask me how I know).
2. I agree that the in-tank pump normally destroys the external pump. Has anyone gone w/o the in-tank pump and put a strainer in there instead? Any performance issues?
BB.
Doth your 155K mile pump groan or make any noise?

And your fuel pump may be pushing a little more fuel than most, Mr. TireSmoke.

I'm still on the original fuel pump at 160K miles. When I removed the in-tank pump and found it to be in perfect condition, I still replaced it, but I left the external pump alone. No noises.
