I believe I have the Light Delay Problem. Have hatch lights that do not operate. Door lights operate only when manually switched on and off, not when opening door. I believe the red door marker lights stay on, thus draining the battery. Can I test the Relay?

I have a good Interior Light delay relay from my 86.5 car. Went ahead and replaced it due to getting a deal I couldn't pass up. But, as a result I have 2 of these. (Good to have a spare, they cost $140 from the Big 3 I believe.) Anyway, where are you located, and what year is your car ?? Are you a member of Rennlist ? ![Confused](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
the one I have as a spare has a part number of 928 618 225 01 BTW...

If your door lights do not come on when the the door is opened, but will work if "swtched manually on"...the relay is providing the 12V properly, also if the hatch lights do not work (have you tried pivoting them to see if they will work when switched on as well?)...if not try it. If they do work...youu probably have switch trouble in the hatch (most likely)...or the door pin switches.

I think you are right on the hatch switch. I can swivel them and they light, and when I depress the rear hatch manually closed it is hit and miss to turn out the light, I will let you know what happens after I remove and service the rear switch.

The Car is a 1988. And after cleaning the switch grounds and the connections for the plug to the switch it seems to have fixed the problem, but I do notice that some times it is an immediate off, and other times it is on the delayed (30 seconds) till switches off all the lights. Thanks for the input. Now for the ignition electrical switch, electric rear hatch release, odometer gear, and dash cover .......

If it is the hatch being opened/closed...it "should" immediately go out when you close the hatch...if the doors are opened/closed...you "should" have the delayed off for approximately 15-20 seconds...glad you got things working properly, you will find, that lots of the "nuisance" type issues with your car...are of this type. Dig around, use the "search" feature of this board (almost every concievable problem or trouble related to the 928 has already been discussed at length in the archives).....and you can get to the bottom of most malfunctions with the click of a mouse...if not, post your issue, and see what happens...Join the forum, its priceless in its benefits to a shark owner, and is always there as a permanent resource...

A Few weeks back I stuck a nickle w/Gorilla Glue to the top of the Hatch Plunger. This has eliminated the problem that reoccured w/the rear hatch light switch.
