Default Wheel deals may not

be real deals. Tell me.

I bought 4 (what I was told were) 928 wheels at the PCA Potomac Porsche parts swap last fall. Didn't look too closely, just took the guys word for it. Anyway, two are part number 928-362115 and the other two are 928-36102105. The first two had significantly less metal at the web than the other two, which incidently matched the four on my car. All are ET65-7Jx16.

Locally one guy wanted to buy two them for his 944 track car but he ran out of money before he had a chance to come by and look at them. I would feel very bad if I passed junk onto a fellow Porschephile, even if it was a 944 type.

Incidently, I took the best of the matching wheels to Wheel Worx to be cleaned up, and painted. To pi$$ off the 928 naturalists, the wheels are going to match the Guards Red original paint!

Earnie, my friend, who at SITM offered me (I forgot was it $50) for my 928, who I forgive, the answer is no, it is 928. Pelican calls it an "s" wheel?

John;

The 944 did use a 'manhole' rim, calling it a forged wheel option. I think they have a different offset. Are you sure two aren't design 90 style?

Some of the very early 7x16 ET65 forged flat dish wheels did NOT have reinforcing webbing on the inner face: later wheels did .... and if one looks at the webbing closely, it forms the trace for cut-outs to yield a club sport wheel ( like in the avatar).
I have a couple of these early wheels as garage 'rollers' - being forged, they are perfectly good .... and stronger than cast wheels.

I think what I have are two regular 928 wheels and two "S" wheels, maybe from a 87 or later S car. There is a difference in the web but the off-set looks the same. They are lighter (somewhat) than the regular wheels. Outward appearance is the same. If they were used on the 944 they carry the 928 part number. Oh, and Earnie.... there are days I just might take you up on your offer!
