Yeah, we got Derek squared away at Sharktobefest.

He shouldn't need a new cable as Andy's setup involved using a custom cable in place of the stock cable to the throttle body. So, Derek should have the original cable in his spare parts.

I'll have a look in the morning, to make sure. I should have nearly everything that came off of the car. My only problem, from looking at the PET images, is that I'm unsure what came off and what is still on the car. Aside from the obvious stuff like intake, fan, accessory pulleys, injectors. It's the brackets, screws, hoses that confuse me.

I would love to do this closer to home if I knew we would have access to parts. I would hate to have my car stuck in someone's garage due to lack of parts.

All the hoses and tubing in the vacuum image came off. All of the intake parts came off, but the idle stabilizer, throttle body and MAF were relocated on the car. All of the airbox parts came off with the exception that the temp sensor got relocated. Most of the fuel system parts remained on. Yes, there are a few brackets that came off, but they should be pretty obvious. The hoses can be matched up to the vacuum line drawings.

Hi Guys...

Derek...Is the plan to keep it stock for the forseeable future or go back to SC... If you are going to keep it stock I would suggest replacing all rubber that has not been done recently... good thing you have the PET.

If I recall this is your everyday driver.

Here we go... this is from memory so I am sure that I will forget some detail.

These are needed ...depending on how good or bad your stuff was you may have to reaplace....

Passenger side crank breather hoses...
A few hoses around the throttle body...
2 hoses for the idle stabilizer...
New intake gaskets... Metal if possible but paper ones are way cheaper...
vacuum lines and connectors....

You may want to change this stuff especially if you want to keep her stock for a while.

Rubber sleeves on intakes.
Rubber sleeve to throttle body
Rubber sleeve to MAF
Baffled gasket to oil filler neck... (buy a devek one.)
MAF o-ring (big)
Throttle body o ring
idle stabilizer valve. (hard to get at later)
Hoses from drivers side plenum (vacuum to brake booster)
Fuel lines...

sounds like you still have your....

air tubes..
airbox and filter
The big macaroni shaped air tube that connects the MAF to the Throttle body.
four intake runners (two tube each)
oil filler neck
Tee shaped intake and two plenums
clamps for all the hoses and sleeves... and any nuts and bolts that were left over.
idle stabilizer valve.
Crank pulley.
pullies on PS air pump...
fan
shroud,

I remember that the wiring to the throttle switch was lengthened during the install. Bill remembers that a fuel line was modified so you will need that.

hmm...

I am sure that I am forgetting some stuff...

OK, Bill & Lo. Your last two posts have given me some clear idea of the inventory I should have. I'll have a look at what I have and order the rest.

Thank you for offering to join in on the surgery, Brian.

It's not entirely altruistic: I fear myself that I would be challenged if I ever had to restore my car to stock, and I know I'll feel a lot more comfortable after I've participated/observed the process being done successfully. But thanks for the kind thoughts.

I went through my box of leftovers today. I'd forgotten how grimy much of those items were. I spent a couple of hours cleaning everything up. Hopefully, it will help make the process of putting it all back on a bit more pleasant.

I seem to have most, if not all, of what is needed including my old injectors. I plan to clean the injectors with carb cleaner, they look a bit grimy.

I plan to order:

a new set of vacuum lines and connectors
fuel line # 928 110 269 01
MAF o-ring
Throttle body o-ring
Two large intake runner sleeves
One small intake runner sleeve (the rest look good)
A new set of wr7dc spark plugs (wr6dc installed now)

My intake gaskets are the metal ones and I have them all. Do I need to order a new set or will these work?
All of my hoses appear to be in excellent shape.

D...

Sounds good....

You can use the gaskets over... is there a little hard ridge around the edge... Even if it is a bit flattened out if it looks good you can reuse it...

I remember you said that you had some intake work done before the SC install... that may be why a lot of your stuff is in good shape... are the little vacuum lines any good?

I didn't notice any hard ridge around the edge of the intake gaskets. I did notice a dark line in the center. They do seem pretty flat, I assumed that's how they were supposed to be.

The vacuum lines are made of a hard plastic and appear intact. I may be missing a few connectors.

I had my cam cover gaskets, coils, rotors, distributors, t belt, w/p, air filter and fan motor replaced prior to the s/c install. I've since replaced my spark plug wires, o2 sensor, two fuel hoses and maf.

I did not find a throttle cable. Do our cars have one in stock form? I did find a rod with a ball connector at either end.

Derek, the rod with the ball connector goes from the throttle body to the bellcrank that is mounted on the cooling fan bracket. The throttle and transmission kickdown cables (if you have an auto) attach at the bellcrank, using ball and socket connections as well.

Yeah, Derek, a rod goes to the throttle body, as BillS says. You still have the other cables on the car.

It's going to cost more to take the thing off than to keep it on!

I saved every part when the s/c was installed.
I placed my order for the remaining items yesterday, it totalled $175.

I wish I could afford to keep it on...I will miss the power tremendously. I'm trying to barter for some AA chips from another Rennlister. I sold my AA chips after I installed the s/c.

So, the metal intake gaskets are reusable right?
